Encatalavida
what I loved: amazing three meals a day, fresh, creative and perfectly local.  The chef for our group of (mostly) vegetarian yoga Colorado crowd, Sarah Jane did great food and attended to special requests as just as well. The tuna one night was caught by Brian & David just days before and we raved about it.  Coconuts were harvested on site, watermelon, so much outstanding fruits! Freshest cool gazpacho before dinner, wonderful desserts.
The sound of the forest & the ocean, 3 minute walk to the ocean, trails and a national treasure in the remote Corcovado preserve.  First time ever surfing with Pollo and his crew!  Pretty good for this 50+ girl, thanks to Pollo & Aaron.  3 surf areas, including very safe and good for learning, intermediate and around the point, world class expert.
The number and variety of animals & plant life, just frankly everywhere.
Little poison dart frogs on the paths to the yoga/spa deck, macaws, monkeys everywhere, few if any bugs as there are so many predators looking to eat them.
Waking with the sun for surf, yoga or the pool.  Dinner after sunset at six and bed at 8:30.  For me it was enchanting.
The cabins and beds, mosquito nets, in or outdoor showers with hot water were all pluses. Take very light and fewer clothes.  Accept being hot or find a hammock with an occasional breeze.
Being off the grid means no AC, and I hate to admit it, but I would have turned it on every night if it was there,  instead I was got to listen to the amazing night sounds of the ocean, howler monkeys, insects, birds, others etc.  Hats off to Glenda for her service especially helping us hold down the monkey bar. Gigi, Kate and gensi for helping everywhere. Kate is an excellent massage therapist.  So slow down, surf, explore close or further away.  I plan on joining our yoga/surf retreat again next year!  If you need TV, golf, AC, plugged in a lot, not for you.  But pretty good WI-FI part of each day, good AT&T service for me, just in case, which I found helpful.
So I found myself really relaxed and grateful at the end of being in Encatalavida in the Amazing Osa area of southern pacific costa rica.  Muchas gracias Brian & crew! If you will have me/us again, us, "I'll be back"

Room Tip: Each room was different and call or email ahead to select the best for your needs. They are very helpful and want You to enjoy your time there.

Old friends get together for an annual surf trip. This trip to Encanta La Vida was the best experience for us ever. The facilities are outstanding. The staff is top notch and very knowledgeable of the surroundings and surf breaks. The point breaks are world class, but as you go farther into the golfo, the breaks get easier, surf for all experience levels.

The food is healthy and delicious. The wildlife is abundant and the howlers make a nice alarm clock at 0430.

The staff, frounds, surf spots all make this a must! We are returning next year.

Room Tip: Cabins away from the pool and main house are quieter, families of monkeys swing by every day.

My first trip to the Encanta la Vida was in May 2013 and I just visited again in April this year. It's stunning in its natural beauty being gracefully tucked into the rain forest of the Osa Peninsula. At first light I woke up to the sounds of the forest coming alive which includes Howler monkeys and a beautiful chorus of bird calls. I got up and followed the sendero or path to the beach and watched the sunrise across the Golfo Dulce. Be prepared, once the sun rises over the ridge, the temperature begins to climb fast.

The accommodations are basic, clean and very comfortable. You will enjoy the cool shower after a long day of tropical heat. That and you can take a dip in the saltwater pool and have a cold beer or margarita. They make their margaritas using the juice from mandarin limes that grow in Costa Rica

Meals are served in family style dining which is really cool for getting to know the other guests at the Encanta. I find that everyone is in a good mood due to the natural beauty of the setting. Then, when you add the fact that the tiny little kitchen makes the most delicious fish tacos, seared ahi, fresh soups and bread, and amazing desserts, it just enhances the total experience.

The Encanta la Vida is my most favorite place to stay in all of Costa Rica and I am going back next week for a ten day visit. The prices are reasonable and the experience is incredible. It's enchantingly peaceful there on the Osa Peninsula.

Room Tip: I like staying in Pole House #2 because it has a private deck overlooking the garden and the rain forest.

I stayed here for a last few nights of a 12 day trip. I was in the honeymoon suite which was stunning with an amazing shower that was screened in all around so it felt like showering in the middle of the jungle.
The property is set in the middle of the forest with amazing wildlife but with decent wifi and plenty of hot water. The buildings and grounds are lovely and there is even a pool.
The food was very good and plentiful.

Be prepared for really, really bad roads on the way there.

We stayed at a private home nearby, but had two lovely evening meals, one with Bryan, at Encanta La Vida. Food was delisch, servings perfect, company very hospitable. Can't wait to return to the Osa - thank you Encanta for sustaining the natural integrity of Costa Rica
