“Disappointed”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

We stayed one night on 27th July . I booked through Expedia, reviews on trip advisor were generally good but I had no warning that you had absolutely no chance of using the Spa facilities unless you booked 72 hours in advance. As a hotel guest I am used to having use of the facilities that I have paid for. We may as well paid less and stayed in one of the more central B&B establishments.

Additionally the attention to detail on cleaning and housekeeping was lacking. Someone else's blood on the bottom of the valence. Holes in the sheets. Holes in the towels, frayed towels. Dead flies In the light fittings. Dead flies and dirt on the port hole window ledge.generally poor standard. Bathroom was ok.

Breakfast was good

The first room we were given had an over bath shower that my husband could not even stand up in so they moved us without argument which was good.

Generally disappointed though.

The moment we parked up, the service was amazing, was raining and we wasnt aware of where we had to go, called reception and a member of staff advised us to park up and she will send someone out Which we thought was great, and a lovely gentleman guided us, also offered to help with our bags.
The room was up to standard, clean comfortable and felt cosy.
Next morning breakfast was also class, tasted great.
Garden views were nice, defo reccommed this hotel for a nice quite get away.

Stayed at rookery manor from 26thJuly-28thJuly with my partner. Lovely weekend!
We upgraded to a deluxe suite with a balcony.
Nice touch that spa and breakfast is included with the price. Spa is so relaxing , included with the price you can use gym facilities, sauna hydrotherapy pool and outdoor hot tub.
Location is about a 15minute drive to Weston super mare pier and beach, not really within walking distance. Nearest shop is about a 5minute drive.
Great stay would Definately return here in the future

My husband and I have just returned from a 2 night stay here to celebrate our anniversary. We had a very enjoyable stay and could not fault anything. All the staff were efficient and friendly and went out of their way to please. We stayed in the Lodge (room 31) which was light and airy with a tiny balcony complete with table and chairs. The decor was fresh and clean and the bathroom spotless with complimentary toiletries. We enjoyed two evening meals with an excellent choice. My husband enjoyed the steak with triple cooked chips so much he had it twice! We wandered around the well kept grounds and enjoyed the hydrotherapy pool. Don't hesitate to book, you won't be disappointed..

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor of the Lodge are light and airy with views across the countryside.

Don't be put off by the entrance when you arrive- it's rather like turning up at Butlins initially especially the reception area. However our room was in the main manor and was very pleasant with a balcony overlooking the beautiful gardens. Very comfortable with every comfort thought of. Staff are very polite, friendly.and helpful and engaged us in conversation. The spa area is lovely and relaxing, great facilities. It was also set up for a wedding and looks like a great venue. We ate in the bistro and we were disappointed. My husband hd the scallops and Sea bass and was unimpressed with the quality of the fish (although we are spoilt where we live in Cornwall). We were unable to get draught beers or sparkling wine or champagne by the glass (although the staff tried hard to source some). Breakfast was good though with plenty of choice although our table was not offered toast. Overall though excellent value for money the only negative was the road noise. We used the air conditioning but even with the doors shut it was a very disturbed nights sleep- triple glazing would be a solution!

Room Tip: Very pretty rooms in the manor overlooking the gardens - but bring ear plugs!

we stayed in the old manor house we had a room with a balcony not huge but nicely done and comfortable, we were looked after by very young staff in the bistro who were very polite and helpful the food each evening was great, good value for money. we only have one negaitive thing to say the road noise was off putting as it was hot when we stayed and needed to have the windows open, in winter it would not be a problem. Overall very nice.

Room Tip: try to get a room in the Manor house as it has the best views over the garden

We stayed for one night with friends as part of a Travelzoo offer and overall considered it was good value for the money we paid. The reception felt like a visit to a garden centre as it was in a conservatory attached to a building - strange. However, check in was easy and we were allocated adjoining rooms in the Lodge. Our advice is don't unload your car until you've checked in as the lodge is a fair trek but fortunately there's plenty of parking and you can drive round. The lodge is new and has 6 rooms - 3 upstairs and 3 down,. The rooms are obviously not as grand as in the main building but there's a plus side - you cannot hear the M5 traffic and if it's a warm night the patio doors can be opened. For us, this was a better option than the main building.

I have to ask:

1. Why only 5 mismatched hangers in the wardrobe?
2. Why place the soap holder right next to the shower head resulting in it being continuously flooded?

The bed was really comfortable for us and in fact (for us) better than much higher starred establishments we've stayed at.

The restaurant is near the main building and so a bit of a hike. The bar has no beer on tap and only one bottled variety of ale (disappointing Doombar) but the bar/waitress staff were friendly and engaging. Yes, there was a bit of a wait for food to arrive but it didn't bother us. When it did arrive the food was good quality and there were no complaints (except for the lack of cheese and biscuit offering?). Breakfast was a strange arrangement whereby you went to the hotplate to be served - most places are now help yourself. The conservatory eating area does get hot in the morning and so our advice is to sit away from the windows.

Overall this was a good value stay and we would happily consider another visit.

Room Tip: although not as grand as the main house, we preferred the lodge as there was minimal road noise and...
