“great restaurant”

we only had lunch there so I cannot comment on the rooms but the staff was excellent, the food was great (and incredibly cheap) and the views stunning. They showed us photos of people who stayed and did some trekking and it looked great. Shapme that we didn't have a few more days to stay and try it ourselves!

This was one of my favorite places I visited in Morocco. Unfortunately we spent only one day in this wonderful place. Our guides Said and Redwon was very friendly and helpful and happy to do a tour with us in the surrounding area. I can truly recommend the place.

My boyfriend and I recently spent several days at Kasbah Chems and trekking with Said and Redwan from Kasbah Chems in the Valley of the Roses and the Valley of M'gouna. There are so many good things to say about our experience, but basically, it was faultless. We spent a night at Kasbah Chems on arrival in Bou Tharar - the room was lovely, the showers were hot, the food was delicious and to top it all off, it was very reasonably priced.

After chatting to our hosts, we decided to join them for a 4 day trek (which was also incredibly good value for money). If you are interested in trekking off the well worn tourist trail, I would definitely recommend taking a tour with Said and Redwan. We took off for our trek through the most amazing scenery and visited nomads, villages in the region and fantastic gorges. All of this was without seeing another tourist the entire time. The food on the walk was also fantastic and was carried ahead by Redwan with the help of a mule (if you do not want to walk the whole trek, or want extra items carried, extra mules can be arranged). Every day we were totally spoilt with delicious meals.

Finally, I think it is worth noting that Said, Redwan & Ibrahim (who is also involved in running the Kasbah) speak French and Arabic as well as Berber. In addition, Said speaks excellent English (in addition to a couple of other European languages) - which can be a rarity in some of the more rural areas in Morocco. Said and the team also do treks for shorter and longer durations in the region (they can pretty much arrange whatever you want). Some of these include one day outings through the Valley of the Roses, hiking to the summit of Mount M'Gouna and going to the gorge of M'Gouna, which, unfortunately, we did not have time for on this visit.
