Admittedly we didn´t stay because we have a house on the island opposite the Amanzoe but were curious to see the property so we reserved one evening a table for dinner on the terrace of the hotel and one day we went by boat to eat at the beach club of the hotel. The General Manager was very nice in handling our request but if they are fully booked they won´t allow non resident guests on their property. The hotel is magnificent and comprises a large piece of a hill between two bays, the hotel itself however is not on or near the beach. The property is very large and they shuttle guests around in golf carts (there is no golf course though). To us it seemed like a replica of the Acropolis, coloums and coloums , large rooms and public spaces, amphitheater and a huge terrace overlooking the sea , the pelepones and Spetses island. It is purely Aman style, very stylish, very good taste, excellent service, for a vacation I would may be find it too big although they only have 36 rooms, of course all suites and they are building luxury villas on the neighboring hill which are for sale. When you go there with your own boat, they pick you up and take you to the beach restaurant which is excellent, fresh fish, Asian-Greek fusion cuisine, all very pleasant. Great wine list especially with great Greek wines some of which are excellent . The food at dinner was a disapppointment, it was very much Taverna style unsophisticated dishes but that may have also been our choice because we wanted something Greek. I plan to do a birthday party there and come over from the island whenever I am there.

We have visited most of the Amans around the world over the past 20 years. Amanzo'e is a worthy addition to the family.

It defines serenity in its location and the breadth of the property. Ed Tuttle remains the quintessential Aman architect and his vision combines touches from other properties such as Amankila with more intense classical Greek architecture. Rooms are spacious and with the most modern appointments.

The beach club facility, while 10-15 minutes away, provides sea access but also allows pool-dwellers more privacy back at home base.

The food has been criticized in early reviews but was excellent; the only suggestion might be more emphasis on Greek cuisine and dishes. The focus on local sourcing is to be commended and the produce is of the highest quality.

The leadership of an old Aman hand, Henry Gray, is notable and brings the culture of Aman and a wealth of experience to Greece; service defines the staff, with one of the team assisting in the search of an item, way beyond the call of duty.

Overall, an exceptional hotel and a true destination in its own right.

Words are inadequate to describe the beauty, location, food and service of this Aman Resort. Having travelled for 40 years, and stayed in luxurious properties, this surpasses all. Not one thing left to chance. Staff could not be friendlier, and all amenities superb. Only negative is the 2 and a half hour drive from Athens, but once acknowledged, just accepted. Sometimes intra=Greece flights or ferries can last as long and not be as convenient. Activities, other than the usual, are expensive, but once committed to pricey nightly rates for one of the gorgeous pavillons with private pool, extras seem not bothersome. Beach club is fantastic, and the views of the sunset extraordinary. Chef on staff is blessed with golden culinary talents. Ideal glamourous destination.

I travel weekly and have stayed in top hotels and resorts all over the world. Never have I had an experience like my stay at Amanzo'e. The commitment to quality and service is noticeable before arriving at the property and goes from the top management of the resort through the entire staff. Simple, little things that make huge differences are not missed, and communication between all service areas ensures everyone knows who you are, what your needs are, and how best to make sure your stay is exceptional.

I had an extended stay at Amanzo'e which enabled me to get to know quite a few members of management and staff as well. This enhanced my trip even more and allowed me to understand the commitment to quality and service more deeply. I was fortunate to spend a great deal of time with Alexandros, the F&B manager, who designed a bespoke wine tour for me, and accompanied me for the day. I was also introduced to the fantastic wines of Greece, previously unknown to me. I was welcomed in the resort's kitchen to cook with Ilias Doulamis, Chef de Cuisine, who taught me two recipes I loved on the menu. And I enjoyed the daily conversations with Henry and Char Gray, who manage Amanzo'e with passion. There are too many others to mention, but suffice it to say, the team at Amanzo'e get it on every level.

I won't go into the details of the resort, as many others have done so. What I can say is that it is a stunning property and worth a visit, even if for a day. I stayed in Pavilion 23 and was delighted with the view and the solitude this room offered.

I cannot wait for my return.

Amanzo'e is an ideal place for a relaxing, quiet holiday. We spent four nights and would happily return. Here are some things you might want to know that aren't as well publicized by others.

(1) Almost everything is marble -- even the wall coverings, The quality of construction and the attention to detail are pretty amazing. The library building is spectacular.

(2) The pavilions are arranged in a very practical way with an open floor plan (i.e., no division between the living and sleeping areas). They are very spacious and each have two interior sofas/daybeds. If you need more than one pavilion (i.e., family traveling together), there are communicating doors between the patios -- but not the interiors.

(3) There are two standalone sink/WC rooms, two separate dressing/storage areas and a shared walk-in shower (with skylight and two shower heads at each side) and shared tub that overlooks that patio. Very very nice.

(4) The patio area is fantastic, with lots of space divided between a shaded area and an area open to the sky. In the shaded area are a dining/work table, long daybed, and chair/side table. In the unshaded portion are two loungers and plunge pool (size of pool depends on pavilion category). You can easily spend the entire day lounging around the patio.

(5) The fitness center is first rate with lots of equipment, very clean and very modern. The gym connects with a Pilates studio and yoga area with an amazing view.

(6) There are rosemary and lavender plants everywhere, including in the garden of each pavilion.

(7) The minibar is stocked daily with soft drinks and snacks; consumption is included.

(8) The beach club is not within walking distance, but there is an attendant to drive you anytime. You can also ride a borrowed bike down to the beach (downhill) and take the van back to the hotel (uphill). The beach club has sushi, Asian food and sandwiches, pizza, etc., One evening we were there, the beach club hosted an evening BBQ.

Highly highly recommended.

Amazing place. The usual high level of service and friendliness that you can expect from an Aman resort. There are several things unique to this resort that help it stand out.

- The physical location is stunning. The resort sits on top of a hill on a section of land surrounded on three sides by the Aegean. The water is visible from just about everywhere on the property.

- The architecture of the property is perfect. Some people might find the take on classical Greek temple architecture (think of the Acropolis style) a bit much, but my wife and I found it beautiful and worked perfectly with surrounding countryside.

- The beach club is a great amenity. It almost makes you feel like you have access to two different resorts.

We can suggest a few things you need to do if you come here. 1) Rent one of the boats for a trip out to Hydra/Spetses or one of the other islands. The islands are fun and the trip there and back is great. 2) Sit out on the main patio and watch the sunset every night. It's spectacular. 3) Visit the local winery by the hotel. It's a small family run operation, but they make excellent wine (the hotel serves several of the wines they produce). We spent about two hours chatting with the niece and her uncle who run the place.

One of (if not the best) resort we have ever stayed in. It's expensive, but based on what Aman delivers, it's worth ever penny.

Room Tip: Don't worry about a water view. The valley view room views are just as spectacular.

A really outstanding place in Greece. Very much on par, if not better, than other Aman resorts we've been to.

LOCATION: on a hill top, overlooking the whole area. Great views of the sea and country side. Peaceful and quiet. Amazing facilities, great architecture. The location of the restaurant is fantastic, overlooking the sea and the sunset. The resort is within easy reach of Spetses, where we went for dinner. 15 min drive to Kosta, then a 10 min water taxi ride to Spetses. Location also easy for archeological sites like Epidorous (50 min by car).

ROOM: the best part of the resort in my opinion. Outstanding. Very large, total integration of indoors and outdoors: sliding doors that open across the whole surface of the pavilion. Private pool. His and hers bathroom. Lots of outdoor space. Easy to understand climate control and central lighting control. Very nice contemporary furnishing and decoration. Free mini bar, small gift left on bed every evening, free wifi throughout the resort....without need for login or password! The only thing I found a bit OTT was the Japanese style toilet with heated seat, water jets literally up the yazoo, and "power deodoriser".

SERVICE: overall, very good. Friendly, helpful, attentive staff. Every one calls you by your last name, which is impressive. The service related to food is a bit erratic, particularly at the beach club. Better at the main restaurant. Would suggest keeping things simple when ordering and repeating. Food was good, but the menu could be a bit more varied. Not entirely at the level you would expect for a hotel of this category. By no means bad or weak, just not the strongest point.

FACILITIES: great pool, great spa, great library, great views, great everything. Beach club is also outstanding: 10 min drive down the hill. Very quiet and secluded. Three pools just at the beach club. Free water sports. We took a Catamaran out for some great sailing. Good food at the restaurant there, but service erratic.

Overall, an amazing place. Would very much recommend. Very expensive, but well worth it for special occasions or just the need to get away from it all occasionally.
