“Great local pub with lovely garden”
Review of The Buck Inn

The Buck Inn
Price range: $14 - $42
Description: Traditional country pub with open fire and large beer garden. Our menu offers pub classics, along with regularly changing "specials". A good selection of locally brewed real ales and a choice of wines by the glass and bottle. Dogs welcome in the bar area. Function room also available.

Four of us were staying the weekend in Masham. We thought we would find a nice country pub and have an evening meal and a few beers.(The wife was driving!)The landlord was very friendly and talkative especially about cricket! An interesting cricket ground-An oak tree in the middle of it!!!! Any rate the food was exellent !The beer even better! We would all visit again when in the area.

Our previous visit was last June on steak night - Thursday. This time it was Friday and it was satisfying to have our initial view of the pub and its food confirmed.
We could have eaten in the bar, which was convivial but we were at a round table and we like a bit more room so ate in the restaurant.
Our starter was smoked salmon and prawns with salad and marie rose sauce- conventional but done very well with quality ingredients.
Our mains were rib eye steak and grilled cod, both absolutely excellent with a side of their fabulous onion rings.
No matter where you eat or how elaborate or adventurous the menu there can't be a better combination than fresh top quality ingredients beautifully cooked and presented by a charming efficient waitress, and this is what the Buck Inn delivers.

A beautiful pub in a gorgeous setting.
We were greeted by the landlord, and a nice open fire. As it is Winter time the pub was fairly quiet. The main bar was full of artefacts and information relating to the history of the pub and the area. The menu choice was simple but traditional.
The food was piping hot, very tasty and there was plenty of it. The fish and chips were massive! The batter was light and the fish tasted completely fresh. If you're a lover of cheese then you should definitely choose the ploughmans lunch, a large assortment cheeses (local), homemade pickles and chutneys and hot crusty bread with lashings of creamy butter.
Well worth going off the beaten track to find.

Went for Sunday lunch and had a jazz afternoon! I had roast beef and my wife the roast pork - both excellent! Really decent food and good atmosphere.

There was a jazz band on in the other half of the pub which made for a really unusual Sunday dining experience -- in the positive sense.

Nice, friendly staff as well as locals; all topped off by some good cask beers.

I bet this is even more fab in the summer when there's a cricket match on just outside the front door!

Really good experience.
