Hi guys,
Abundant birdlife: cormorant, jacana, winding cisticola, hadada ibis, african darter, fish eagle, holy ibis, sunbirds.
And of course the hippos.
They leave the water at night. Roaming around your accommodation.
The boattrip was not cheap.
regards
Schliek

We did the boat ride to Crescent Island, which is now a peninsula. This was one of the top highlights of our trip to Kenya. I'm an avid birder & our boat guide was fantastic. He really knew the birds & got us up close to get great photos. The walk on Crescent Island was magical. To be able to freely walk amongst Zebra, Giraffe, Wildebeest & Water Buffalo was fantastic.

Not knowing what to expect, I was dropped off by the lake and informed that I had to pay US$50 for a trip around the lake.
Having paid the said amount, donned a life vest, I was then told to go into one of the motorised boats.
My first stop was to see some hippos by the Shoreline then some egrets. The guide did not say much unless I asked the questions and he only pointed out some of animals/birds. A vulture or two. Stopped for photos if needed.
I thought the cost was too high and unreasonable after the ride. Perhaps half the price would have been more justified.

Boat ride is a must on this lake . Hippos are the primary attraction. Many either in the water or on the shore. Different birds and also you could see giraffes on the private park adjacent to the lake

We saw Hippos, all types of birds, people fishing, etc. It is a beautiful area and with a boat tour you get lots of local information. It's worth the trip.
