A fantastic trip for potter fans. You have to book in advance and although we booked about 4 months in advance, there was only 1 entrance time left-4pm. I was worried that would be too late but actually it was perfect because there were fewer people coming in behind us. If we went again, We would book the latest slot possible.
We stayed at travel lodge at Watford central and got the potter bus from right outside the train station(10 min walk from hotel costing 2 per person).
We arrived slightly early but they let us in anyway. Bags are searched and airport style security before we went in- swift and efficient so no big queues.
It's very impressive right from the beginning! So much to see and do. For big potter fans there were 3 or 4 really 'wow' moments. We all learnt so much about how the films were made. The sets are amazing to see. My husband and I and our 6 year old daughter visited. It took us 4 hours to get round, we did take our time to look at everything.
My daughter had a go at flying on broomstick but the photos were 14 pounds each (20 for a 1 minute film) so we didn't buy them and there was no hard sell which was good.
Butter beer was available at the half way point -3. 95 for a regular (more if you choose the souvenir cup) or you could buy butter beer ice cream too. You can take your own food and drink.
Obviously the gift shop is pricey. Wands are 30 each, quills 16, notebooks 10 etc. Lots of sweets too! But it's easy to walk through and no hard sell!
This is a fantastic trip. We loved every minute and will go again.
