Arrived at the Plume of Feathers to find adequate parking. Once inside the Pub we had a friendly welcome & was pleased to know they were serving Sunday Roasts.
One of party was a Gluten Free Vege. Vegetarian option was Nut Roast but didn't like Nut Roast. Advised staff of dietary requirements and they were very helpful. Organised a jacket potato with various chose of toppings. Very nice Roast & Jacket pot. Definitely would re visit! Reasonable prices. Thank you. Very clued up on dietary requirements. Only improvement - disposal hand towels or drier needed in toilets, reusable towel not hygienic.

Staying locally we stopped off for a lunchtime drink to check it out for a possible evening meal - have to say whilst the staff were friendly and the beer ok. The place itself looks tired, grubby and hardly inviting - the dirty pub sign outside should have warned us, but the outside under shelter area was full of dirty old leather furniture, nothing written on the black boards and frankly we felt reluctant to even sit down - we shan't be risking a meal (although the toilers were clean!)

Theoretically this place could be great. But it isn't. The bar and dining room are large but feel dark, gloomy and grubby. On our visits it always is either virtually empty or impossibly full, due to a function of some sort. I was going to title this review "Rough as rats" which is probably not fair but the phrase keeps coming back to me as I type.

There is a huge amount of space outside, with seating and a children's play area. On our last visit this was monopolized by a noisy group of young people, possibly students from the nearby College but if so it must have declined seriously since I studied for my 'A' Levels there as none of them seemed to be able to read the "Please close the gate" sign.

We had one, very quick, drink and left. Closing the gate behind us.

Had a lovely lunch here, staff were fantastic and the locals are all friendly
The ham egg and chips were gorgeous.
It's a small family run pub the owner is on site and very approachable.
Didn't use the b &b but the place is kept lovely so much sure the facilities are second to none.
We will be back.
