“Great Place to visit”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

Took my S.W.E.L.L. group out for a tour of the winery and we all had a great time. The winery is housed in a registered heritage structure of a cottage hospital which is quite evident as you enter the bulding. The tour was fantastic, learned a lot about berry wines and the berries they use. Our hosts were quite knowledgeable and very down to earth and friendly. Thier products are quite tasty and very enjoyable. So whether you are visiting Newfoundland or living here, it's definately a place to go.

“Wine, Brandy AND History”
Reviewed July 5, 2012

Back home in Newfoundland last week, my mom and I spontaneously took the turn off the highway and drove to Rodrigues Winery. It became an unexpected highlight of our trip. While the wines can't compete with California, they were interesting and the brandy and liqueurs were definitely yummy.

Curtis did an amazing job describing the characteristics of the wine and appropriate food pairings. He was able to share stories, not only about the wine, but about the history of the cottage and the Newfoundland medical and court system back in the day.

My advice - visit!

“Great Berry Wines & More”
Reviewed August 21, 2011

Rodrigues Winery is housed in the Canadian registered heritage structure Markland Cottage. The history is kept alive in the building as the winery grew from a small business to the full swing operation it is today.

Rodrigues produces kosher wild berry and fruit wines, ice wines, brandy and liqueurs with amazing technology and many types of local produce. In addition to wines, they also have a premium vodka brand as well as a line of natural health supplements. The production of both these products was also part of the tour.

Visiting the tasting area and gift shop at the end of the tour we were able to taste many of the Rodrigues offerings and become more acquainted with berry wines.

We did the tour in an afternoon with friends and family who were all of legal drinking age and had a very nice time. Certainly a great opportunity for some history, culture and local products when your visiting the island.
