One of life's great mysteries is that it's taken this long for someone to write a TripAdvisor review about Kublai Khan. I've been many times over many years and the place (which can seat around 100) is often packed. And I'm never disappointed. And I'd give 5 stars every time.
Kublai Khan is one of those restaurants where you choose the food to put in your bowl and the chefs take it and throw it on the hotplate to cook with those awesome metre-long chopsticks. I love that the meats and vegetables are always so fresh. (A tip for novices: try a few different combinations of the sauces and oils with small quantities of food to work out the mix that works best for you. You can go back for more food as often as you like.) Then you can add rice/noodles after a chef returns the bowl to you.
The service is excellent. When you've finished eating, your empty bowls are taken quickly and you use clean ones whenever you go up to get another serve.
It's a lot of fun and, at just over $20 per person, it's brilliant value too (especially given that there's no limit on how much you eat).
Kublai Khan has a great atmosphere (it has that old school Asian restaurant feel). It's perfect for families or groups of friends.
You can get desserts - which include chocolate fondues - to finish off your meals but the "Victory Feast", which is the name given to the all-you-can-eat banquet, is always enough for me.
I will have a lot more meals at Kublai Khan!
