The location of the resort is stunning, the quality of the villas was exceptional however there is a bit to learn as far as the level of service is concerned when comparing Wolgan Valley to other luxury resorts throughout the world (I'm mainly talking about the restaurant service).
Being asked several times if we had ordered and what our room number was became quite annoying after a while. The food scored an 8/10 except if you are a vegetarian which scored it 5/10 (just not enough thought). Having said that all the resort staff was very friendly and the resort tours available were a great way to learn about the valley's history
In all I'd go back, but there are plenty of other resorts for us to try first.

Having just returned from a 2 night escape at Wolgan Valley Resort my partner and I feel compelled to share our experience with others. This truly is 6 star service. Every staff member went out of their way to make us feel welcome and accommodate our every desire. Toby our host was welcoming and made us feel relaxed immediately. The attention to detail throughout the resort is exceptional, suites are beautifully appointed and it's the little touches that make you feel special. The bed is ridiculously comfortable - it's makes it hard to get up in the morning, but why not take a much needed sleep in! We took a horse trail ride on our first morning and the views were breathtaking, Erin our guide was terrific. We are beginners but felt at ease throughout the experience. The spa retreat is a relaxing place to be, highly recommend a massage to wind down at the beginning of your stay. From breakfast to dinner, our taste buds were excited! We recommend relaxing by the fire and enjoying an after dinner beverage to accompany your dessert. All in all, an unforgettable luxurious experience that was well worth the pricetag.

This is as good as it gets... You kind of have to pinch yourself its all real...
Booked this property via LHW.
Stayed fri and sat night- 2 night

Food service accommodation facilities and experience the best in australia and probably
The world.

-pre arrival:
Courtesy phone call days before arrival
Enquiring about planned time of arrival and departure
Any special requests and spa bookings.
Friendly warm genuine

- arrival... Each aspect of the journey prepared us to leave behind the stresses and heaviness of our working week.
The unsealed road was kind of like a highway into a magical hidden place
At the gate you are politely asked for your name and asked to park your car in the car park
Taken by a staff member in a resort 4WD to main lodge where you are greeted by a number of staff who genuinely make you feel so welcome. The whole experience is charming sincere and just right.
Arrival formalities easily completed and you are escorted via buggy to your suite.

- suite:
Just amazing. Beautiful, elegant ,functional, thoughtful layout and extremely comfotrable
It was just perfect whether it be the heated pool, the wollen throw rug, the australian bath salts, the beautiful music, the extremely comfortable lounge, the inclusive mini bar ( ex moet), rocking chairs on verandah or heavenly beds.... And opens up to a stunning valley vista...it really doesnt get better than this

-food:
Divine.be it dinner or lunch.
The food at dinner was amazing and comensurate with that served in any chef hat or high zagat rated restaurant. Breakfast was great also although would like a wider selection of fruit.
The food was a highlight.

- spa:
Superb. Great facilties and beautiful large private treatment rooms.
Great range of treatments at prices that are consistent with a resort of this calibre.

- nature activities:
Didnt do any of them- was here more to recharge and not so keen to explore the landscape although im sure that would have been fun.
Thoughtful options and guides discuss with you options for the following day at dinner.
Overseas guests would love this.

- general manager:
Larger than life - mixes with guests , approachable , likeable and very engaging.
Helped out at dinner and always keen to make the experience perfect.
A personal touch much appreciated.

- staff:
Warm engaging mostly efficient and sincere.

Overall:
Best service in australia
World standard easily and probably best in world standard to be fair.

A must on everyone's list and well i just hope it doesnt get too popular!

Expensive yes but worth it and well a truly amazing experience.

Room Tip: Rooms 24 to 30 are nice

My wife mentioned this resort to me some 6 months ago and after looking up the cost I hoped she would soon forget about it ;-) However, she didn't and despite my natural thiftiness we decided to book their "Indulge in Spring" package to celebrate her birthday. We didn't regret the decision. The Heritage Suite was luxurious and well appointed and is fully air-conditioned with a gas fire place. It includes a private indoor 8 metre lap pool that was heated perfectly, a huge bathroom, a large walk-in robe, a very comfortable king size bed, comfortable lounge and complimentary mini bar and coffee machine. The friendly service started with the gate keeper, where you leave your car in a covered secure area to be driven to the resort via the scenic route, through a couple of creeks. All the staff were friendly and attentive and we want to particulalry thank the senior waiter at dinner for his excellent service and attention to detail. The general manager was also there and is very hands-on, engaging with the guests and putting another log on the fire as well. The meals were all of a very high standard according to my wife, who is also a chef. I enjoyed them as well, but am very easy to please when hungry! We were greatful that there are plenty of outdoor activilities to burn off at least a few calories. The views from the suite (see attached photo) as well as other vantage points around the resort, are spectacular and there is plenty of wildlife to see. The tour of the historic homestead, that cost $2,000,000 to restore, instead of $7,000 to demolish, was also very interesting. The facial spa and massages that were included in the package were very enjoyable and the masseurs were very professional. We were really very tempted to extend the stay for a third day but unfortunately I had to back in Sydney for another commitment. Overall we had a fantastic experience and look forward to having another visit there.
BTW - the dirt road is not too bad. Just take it easy at 50 to 60 km/hour and it's almost relaxing and certainly scenic. Before returning to Sydney, we travelled about 10 km up the road to visit Newnes. If you have 4WD, or AWD with reasonable ground clearance, you can cross the river at Newnes and visit the coke making facility built circa 1900.

Splash out and enjoy a stay at Wolgan Valley. It’s an easy scenic drive from Sydney, so you can make it up on the air fare.
Sure when you get to the turnoff, the road is a bit rough and ready, however by slowing you down from the frenetic Sydney traffic, you’ll be able to unwind all the quicker at Wolgan.
The Heritage suites are super spacious and well appointed with very comfortable beds and fine linen. You can simply laze around or get into activity mode. Mountain biking, hiking and horse riding are all there and included in your tariff, so bring your sporting attire. A walk to the ‘glow worm’ caves is highly recommended. If you are in lazy mode, there are plenty of movies provided in your room.
Meals are excellent, high quality and service is attentive. We enjoyed the Orange/Mudgee wines and it’s great to see local providers supported. The General Manager is always around to answer any questions and ensure your stay exceeds expectations. Not your typical resort, and definitely worth putting on the bucket list.

Room Tip: Bring your flat shoes as the rooms are spread out
