“Good value food but no atmosphere”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

We decided to take a couple of German friends fwho were staying with us for the long weekend and had just arrived in Sydney after a tour. The Ettamoghah had been advertising Octoberfest for weeks so we thought we'd take them there.

It was a Friday night so there were plenty of families but they had a horrible heavy metal band which attracted a few rough-looking riff-raff types and made it hard to relax and enjoy our meal. Apart from a few posters on the wall about Octoberfest, you wouldn't have known there was an Octoberfest deal going on that weekend. We thought there'd be a real German Octoberfest atmosphere created (waitstaff wearing German hats at least and some German music) but there was nothing.

We were bitterly disappointed and made a hasty retreat even though we felt like dessert. Although their food is good value (we often go there for meals) this place lacks atmosphere and refinement. It's like a bid shed. A few changes to the decor would make it more inviting.

“Very enjoyable meal”
Reviewed April 10, 2012

We had a delicious meal, tho the service could be a little quicker.
Unfortunately it is first served for the tables with a view (you can't book specific tables) In saying that, I would go back again
