“Good for family holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

We travelled as a family of 5 at the end of July, 1st week of the school holidays. A little about us first of all, and what we expect from a good holiday. Husband and myself travel extensively, both on business as well as for pleasure. We take a family holiday in July , taking my step-children, and take a child-free holiday in early September, so if the kiddie holiday goes horribly wrong, at least we have that to look forward to ! I must confess to being the sort of person who loves a luxurious hotel room, and I'm a sucker for touches like luxury products in the bathroom, turn down service, and fluffy towels changed twice daily. Now admittledly, this doesn't happen at the LTI, but read on as I managed to 'slum' it for a week !
We had booked 2 swim-up rooms and I e mailed the hotel directly to ask if we could have adjacent rooms so we could keep an eye on the children, which they kindly arranged for us. I have read some reviews where check in and room allocation has been an issue but it was quite the reverse for us - quick and efficient, just a short wait at the bar for the room to be 100% ready, then we were shown to them with the porter taking our luggage ahead of us. The swim-up rooms are really nice and modern, the bed was large and I slept really well for the whole week. The bathroom is basic and quite small in comparison to the room itself, the shower was simply a rather old fashioned affair over the bath tub, with a shower curtain ( a pet hate of mine) as oppossed to a screen. No nice toiletries I'm afraid, or even a box of tissues, just a plastic soap dispenser attached to the wall by the sink and one on the wall by the shower. I feel this is a bit of a shame as the room itself was really nice, ood wardrobe space, flat screen tv, nice decor and the decking area outside leading to the swim up area is superb. I think if a little more attention to detail was spent on the bathroom area, it would put the hotel up a league. However, don't let this make it a deal breaker, its just a thing if mine, and I will say the whole room and decking area was kept spotlessly clean by the excellent cleaners for the whole stay.
The swim-up rooms are in a section of their own, the decked area is lovely as you can have privacy behind a screen between rooms if you wish, or you can sit nearer the pool if you want to speak to your neighbours. There are good quality loungers and table and chairs so no problem with grabbing sun loungers. The view from out room was superb, overlooking the gardens, main pool and beach. The hotel location itself is probably its main selling point, the beach is just lovely, and we spent a lot of time there. The ' children' ranged from 22 down to 13, and I was worried they would be bored, but far from it, there is a place on the beach to hire various things like pedaloes, canoes etc, so they made great use of that. They made a lot of friends as well, so we hardly saw them (bonus! ) As many reviews have mentioned the food is plentiful and excellent, the staff are lovely, and all in all we had a really good time. We weren't bothered about the entertainment, as we were happy to sit in the bar area and play cards etc. However, we did go the Beach party one night, which was great fun, and we were even dragged up to play their version of Mr and Mrs ( we came 2nd......... out of 3 ! )The acid test is - would we return ?
Other reviews have mentioned the sewage type smell, so its only fair I point out that it is there, but its not constant, but intermittent, and smells like over boiled cabbage more than anything. It would be nice if this could be sorted out though, as the hotel grounds are so pretty it is a bit of a shame.
For a family holiday, I would, but not as a couple, mainly because I prefer more adult themed hotels when its just the 2 of us.
Hope this helps for anyone who is considering a trip to the LTI.

Room Tip: swim up rooms are worth the extra

We have just spent a week at the Louis Grand after a weeks cruise. The check in staff where friendly and efficient and dealt with the coach load of people who arrived with us smoothly and quickly. Our room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. The welcome bottle of wine and the bottles of water that were left daily were a very nice touch. We had paid extra and booked a room with a sea view. We were expecting an uninterrupted view out to sea, however it wasn't. We could see the sea over a flat roof of another part of the hotel. However, this was a vey minor point and it really didn't spoil our stay. The hotel grounds are beautifully maintained and there are loads of sun loungers, even though people got up very early to reserve them, there were still plenty to go round. The food was excellent and there was always loads to choose from. All the staff are very friendly and work extremly hard to make everyone's holiday a happy one. We travelled with Thomsons and the reps Dan and Dee were great and very helpful. Thomsons also do some great sounding trips from the hotel and if we ever go back we would book on to some. We did use the hotels free shuttle bus to Corfu Town, which is well worth a visit. We would recommend The Louis Grand and if we ever return to Corfu would be very happy to stay here again.

We had a swim up room and it was the most fantastic experience - well worth the extra money. We travelled with Thompsons and the overall holiday experience was great. Food was good and better than lots of other places we have travelled to paying similar amounts and in other parts of the world. The staff bent over backwards to help and the whole holiday allowed us to chill and relax. Thanks to everyone who made this holiday fantastic.

Room Tip: The swim up rooms are just fantastic - it was a fantastic experience that late on Friday night after...

Arrived home yesterday after a weeks stay at the Louis Grand hotel and we are all so completely happy with our holiday!

We loved every moment, the staff were good, food was great, entertainment just right and the pool was brilliant - we couldn't keep our 5yr old out of the water! Our room was very comfortable and we very much enjoyed sitting out on the balcony in the evening with the mountain view and watching the bats fly about.

The food every day was so good and we really enjoyed the variety. My son particularly enjoyed the never ending supply of olives. the desserts were really yummy and we loved trying the greek food on offer.

The animation team were good and kept he kids entertained, only issue we had was when they played water polo and took up the entire length of the pool stopping anyone else enjoying it.

Our holiday reps Dan and Dee were very helpful and really knew their stuff.

We received brilliant service from the restaurant staff, always catering well to our large group.

The location was remote and perfect and we would definitely consider staying again! Thank you for such a memorable holiday. xxxx

Room Tip: If you want the kids to have a quiet moment out of the sun there are no english childrens tv channel...

i have just returned from holiday with my family at the Louis Grand. I cannot speak highly enough of this hotel. We had swim up rooms, which were truly amazing. All guests occupying these rooms respected the privacy of their neighbours, each using and enjoying the water in front of their own rooms. The rooms were clean and we had fresh water every day. The Animation team were totally respectful of the guests and worked very hard in the high temperatures. The staff in the beach bar were always smiling and pleasant. As for the dining room staff, they worked quickly, were always polite and if there was a problem anywhere, then as guests, we were not aware of it, which is more than can be said for some restaurants in our own country. Staff on Reception spoke very good English and were always helpful. Mention also has to go to the Thompsons Rep Dan. Due to a personal problem, I arrived later than my family, and he was extremely sympathetic. I would not hesitate to recommend this Hotel to any of my friends, in fact I have already done so. Obviously there are a few minor issues, such as the situation of the table tennis and not being able to use these during the hours of three and six because of the rooms above. Also the restaurant balcony was noisy early in the morning with people scrapping chairs across the floor. Not quite sure how that can be stopped. It is difficult to please all of the people all of the time, but this Hotel certainly goes out of it's way to try and do this.

Room Tip: As a family, we all loved and enjoyed the swim up rooms. We knew the sun did not reach these until...

We arrived late and were given rooms without sea view (which had been pre booked, rooms next to each other requested). We were told the rooms would be changed after breakfast and to speak to our rep!!!
We ended up waiting 14 hours to be moved to an appropriate room!
Having wasted alot of time we were not impressed, we had to wait around and hadn't been unable to pack or begin our break!
Our rooms were finally ready by 12 noon only to find they are five rooms apart!!! We were eventually compensated but only by the demands of our holiday rep!

Location was excellent, peaceful and relaxing, the service in the restaurant is a little hit and miss as the staff were clearly extremely busy during the high season!
Reception staff are very helpful.
Overall a good holidays once we managed to sort out our rooms.
