Arrived at the Intercontenental Hotel on March 4, 2016 for a 2 night pre-cruise stay. As we entered the lobby, my first impression was that "this is a really nice hotel". My friend and I had both reserved our identical rooms at the same rate through Delta, however she was offered an ocean view and I was offered some other view. Of course that didn't sit well with me as we paid the exact same amount for our rooms. Well, before I could call and make a big fuss, the young lady at the front desk promptly offered me an ocean view room. The room wasn't ready so we left out luggage at the front door with the very friendly and helpful William. We decided to grab some lunch at the beach bar/restaurant. The pleasant walk through the palm trees past the pool was beyond amazing. I immediately felt I was in a beach resort and my vacation was beginning. I ordered a margarita and some chicken nachos. Food was ok. Drink was good. Nothing to rave about. The beach was beautiful, although it was a little windy. When the room was finally ready (4pm, which by the way is the latest I've ever had to check into a hotel), I was pleasantly surprised at the room. It was clean, airy, a beautiful ocean view from the eleventh floor, 2 queen beds, a nice big table and dresser, and a chair. The bathroom was a little small and dated, but clean. There was also a small coffee station outside of the bathroom. We actually used that space as the bathroom counter space was limited. The mini bar needs to be discontinued. No one in their right mind will pay $4.50 for a kit kat bar when there is a convenience store and fast food restaurants right across the street. All that overpriced chips and stuff is just collecting dust. I must mention that the young lady Ashley Roman was an absolute pleasure. She served us wine at the outdoor sitting area near the fire pit. We were all talking about how she made everyone feel special and important. Thank you Ashley. By the way, I was disappointed that there was no casino. The next morning, We went to the hotel next door to get Starbucks as the breakfast at the hotel was so overpriced, in my opinion. Not major issues, but I didn't get the feeling of loyalty to this hotel. I'll look at comparably priced newer hotels on my next visit to PR. Overall, it was a pleasant.
