We stayed at the Intercontinental for a work conference but came down a couple of days early and a stayed a couple of days later. The staff was wonderful - Luis was by far the best man there for room and travel assistance! We had a small snafu with our first room (horrible view of rooftop only from our room) but they moved us to a room with a fantastic view of the pool area. Great food in the hotel (a bit pricey) but there are many great places to eat within easy walking distance. We also walked down to Walgreens for last minute supplies. The only downsides we had were 1) no refrigerator in room and 2) the pool - while beautiful - was freezing! We could only wade in it, much too cold for swimming. We did go out to the beach and enjoy the warmer ocean water. Beautiful hotel, we would definitely recommend and hope to stay there again.

We stayed for a week over Spring Break recently. Three families with teenage kids. The overall facility is in great shape with most of the activities you would look for in a Caribbean holiday from a large pool, beach bar, jet skis and outdoor table tennis to wine bar, coffee shop and in-house restaurants. The facility seems oriented to business group outings and Google held some type of party while we were there that took over a fair amount of the facility for an evening.

The Beach Bar serves better drinks and is likely operated under contract. The pool bar is very fast and well managed while the lobby bar was slow but has the better view. We had a great wine over dinner at Ruth Chris onsite. A little walk down the local road gets you to a local diner called Metropol that serves generous portions of solid food with lots of enthusiasm. Seems popular with the college crowd.

The beach itself is fine but the overall area is "spotty" on quality. It is about a 25 minute ride into Old San Juan but worth it. My third time there and it is still my favorite Caribbean city, so much to see and places to eat with great walks and well preserved architecture. We did not seem overwhelmed by cruisers either.

Our favorite memory was meeting our housekeeper and learning about her family. Our son had his 15th birthday that week and she made him a gift package and brought in a cake - awesome - he loved it!! Please say hi to Marina Vargas if you are going her way. She is a wonderful lady.

My family and I stayed at the Intercontinental Resort in San Juan, Puerto Rico March 17-20, 2016. It is a very nice place to stay with gorgeous pools, great views of the ocean and a nice but slightly overpriced beachside restaurant. The hotel is close to the airport, across the street from a market and down the road is a Walgreens. It's also a short $5 per person cab ride to Old San Juan.

The housekeeping staff is amazing, especially Hilton. What a nice man! He greeted my kids every morning and even made animals out of the towels. He made a dog, cat, monkey and elephant! He's very nice and talented! He went above and beyond to make us comfortable. We hope to see him again on our next visit!

The only thing I didn't like was the fact that there was no refrigerator or microwave in the room which is almost necessary when traveling with kids. Storing and reheating leftovers and buying our own beverages is something that's important to me and my family. The mini bar prices are outrageous and they charge if you lift anything. I had to emphasize how important it was for my kids not to touch ANYTHING on the desk or refrigerator. I'm hoping the hotel will get rid of this feature by our next visit.

Arrived at the Intercontenental Hotel on March 4, 2016 for a 2 night pre-cruise stay. As we entered the lobby, my first impression was that "this is a really nice hotel". My friend and I had both reserved our identical rooms at the same rate through Delta, however she was offered an ocean view and I was offered some other view. Of course that didn't sit well with me as we paid the exact same amount for our rooms. Well, before I could call and make a big fuss, the young lady at the front desk promptly offered me an ocean view room. The room wasn't ready so we left out luggage at the front door with the very friendly and helpful William. We decided to grab some lunch at the beach bar/restaurant. The pleasant walk through the palm trees past the pool was beyond amazing. I immediately felt I was in a beach resort and my vacation was beginning. I ordered a margarita and some chicken nachos. Food was ok. Drink was good. Nothing to rave about. The beach was beautiful, although it was a little windy. When the room was finally ready (4pm, which by the way is the latest I've ever had to check into a hotel), I was pleasantly surprised at the room. It was clean, airy, a beautiful ocean view from the eleventh floor, 2 queen beds, a nice big table and dresser, and a chair. The bathroom was a little small and dated, but clean. There was also a small coffee station outside of the bathroom. We actually used that space as the bathroom counter space was limited. The mini bar needs to be discontinued. No one in their right mind will pay $4.50 for a kit kat bar when there is a convenience store and fast food restaurants right across the street. All that overpriced chips and stuff is just collecting dust. I must mention that the young lady Ashley Roman was an absolute pleasure. She served us wine at the outdoor sitting area near the fire pit. We were all talking about how she made everyone feel special and important. Thank you Ashley. By the way, I was disappointed that there was no casino. The next morning, We went to the hotel next door to get Starbucks as the breakfast at the hotel was so overpriced, in my opinion. Not major issues, but I didn't get the feeling of loyalty to this hotel. I'll look at comparably priced newer hotels on my next visit to PR. Overall, it was a pleasant.

Room tip: Choose ocean view,

Hello

3 Time Return guest. I have to call out and say, the pool bar run by the resort was outstanding. Kris Akueber provided outstanding service. Ask for him. Beach bar not so good, steer clear.

Room tip: You want to be on the 8th floor or above. Ocean view is the best. Below 8 you run into the tree lines.
