Had a pleasant stay at this property but had been there before so knew what to expect. This is definitely a 4 star Ritz, not the usual 5 star that a Ritz usually deserves....basically not as fancy of a Ritz as one would expect. The property is very nice but a little outdated and in need of some renovations. It doesn't look like they have done much renovation anytime recently. The service was very nice courteous. The restaurants were fabulous although a bit pricey. The beach was much nicer this time around. A bit wider than I remember with no rocks and the warmest water for an ocean. I just wish the water was clearer. One day we had monsoon type weather which caused the gym and spa to flood and be shut down for a day and a half. The tennis courts were also flooded. Water actually seeped into our carpet from the window. This was disappointing coming from a Ritz. But the hotel was nice enough the credit us the "resort fee" for the 2 days the gym and tennis court were unavailable. I was also disappointed that the tennis pro was "unavailable" Fri-Sun & since it poured on Thurs, I was not able to play while down there. I really did enjoy the volleyball games in the pool in the afternoons. For $21 each way, a trip into old San Juan one night is a must. It is very nice to see the culture and has lots of cheap but good eats. Overall the Ritz is a nice place that is conveniently less than 10 minutes from the airport but next time may try the new St. Regis.

Beautiful hotel with excellent service and location. Would recommend to anyone but sure need to extra money for food and drinks. Sort of trapped for economical food and drinks. Guess that's why it's a Ritz Carlton.

We were more than pleasantly surprised with this property after researching a number of hotels on the island before finally picking the Ritz Carlton, since we have always had a good experience with that chain. The service was excellent, especially from Yarisa at the front desk and Luis in the club lounge, both of whom made the our stay even more memorable.

Although conveniently located near the airport, there is very little to do within walking distance of the hotel. A quick cab ride to Old San Juan is certainly worth the cab fare, and we do intend to visit other attractions on the island on our next visit.

The rooms were very much up to Ritz' standards, the pool area always had space available and the beach easily accessible. The spa was very average, provided the usual amenities but was not the kind of place to "chill" for a few hours.

Overall, a great choice for visitors who enjoy the level of service offered by this brand.

We frequently stay at Ritz properties on vacations as their service and attention to detail are usually extraordinary. However, we found those elements to be missing for the most part during this stay when a group of seven family and friends traveled to Puerto Rico. Simple requests went unfulfilled or ignored and the staff did not seem to have a sense of urgency in being helpful, even at the Club level where we stayed for the week and there is a staff in place who are supposed to be dedicated to meeting guests' needs. There were several atypical Ritz-Carlton service lapses during our stay. Just to name a few, turn down service arrived at almost 10 PM twice during the week. The staff took four days to recognize one of our travel companion's 80th birthday. It also seems that the set response is "no" for any special requests (A picky eater among us asked for a sliced tomato to go along one of the food presentations and she was told that it wasn't possible before it was begrudgingly obtained some time later.) These moments overshadowed some of the good things about the visit. On another note, the resort sits along the beach among a variety of high rise buildings, many of which are in various states of disrepair. Not particularly majestic. Our visit to Old San Juan was great and I highly recommend spending time there. We also enjoyed a good (but pricey) meal at BLT and had some fun playing cards in the (thankfully non-smoking!) casino in the hotel. However, if you are just looking for a beach vacation, then I think different destinations and even other Ritz properties would be preferable. The rooms in this resort seem to have been recently updated so they were comfortable and the bathrooms are always very nice, although some of the common areas are showing their age. Overall, a fine trip but not up to the typical "wow" Ritz-Carlton experience.

The Ritz is perfectly located on the beach, a short cab ride from the airport. About a $18.00 ride with bags. You would barely know it is near an airport. Great Hotel service. Restaurant is not that luxurious, loud and bustling. Service was nice but slow. Pool service was very slow, but at the beach bar was great! Be aware of the resort fees.
Il Mulino was perfection! Perfect service and cuisine. AMAZING!
The room was updated with a beautiful full ocean view. Spotlessly clean but the white towels were a bit dingy. Asprey amenities!
Front desk check in and out was flawless as well as a great concierge. Service at the beach was not great nor at the pool.
Worth a second visit for sure and possible nearby favorite!

Room Tip: choose ocean view room on a high floor

The staff at this hotel is on point. Everyone we met was courteous and went above and beyond making our getaway fantastic. The accommodations were somewhat above average....I guess I expected more from the Ritz. The restaurants are pricey but again it is the Ritz, so convenience and ease are worth the price.

This is a lovely hotel ten minutes from San Juan airport. We did not hear any planes overhead while indoors. The ground are lovely and the beach expansive. Everyone was very pleasant and offered good service. Our room was ample and very quiet. I think it is more of a city hotel in that it is very crowded. Reminded me of a hotel in New York City with a high density of guests. The spa was clean and pleasant with nice showers and group classes that were free with your stay. I would recommend this hotel for a long week-end due to it's easy access to the airport and nice beach.

Room Tip: Away from the elevator is always a good idea.
