Just back from a 4 night stay at FerryCarrig Hotel with my husband and 4 children could not recommend it highly enough, staff very friendly and helpful especially front desk staff who gave us great advise on things to do in Wexford. Great swimming pool, food good, interconnecting rooms a good size and very clean and comfortable, will definately be back

Just returned from a short family break in the Ferrycarrig Hotel. Once again, everything about our short stay was just perfect - we would find it difficult to criticise anything. Set in a tranquil location by the Slaney estuary, and only a few miles from Wexford town, this is a perfect place to unwind. Bar food in the Dry Dock is really very good, and reasonably priced. Formal dinner in Reeds Restaurant is also high quality - great choice, and very well prepared. Rooms and facilities are highly maintained, and parts of the hotel have been refurbished since our last visit (although we wouldn't have seen the need for it). Best of all, the staff at Ferrycarrig are simply top class - every one friendly and welcoming. Ferrycarrig is one of our favourite hotels, and we have been going there off and on for 15 years. We will definitely be back.

My boyfriend and I stopped here for something to eat on Saturday while we were on a short visit to Wexford. The receptionist was friendly when we walked in the door and pointed us in the direction of the bar/restaurant. We found a table and the waitress that came to our table was very rude and just placed menus on the table without even greeting us, she then returned with two glasses of water and placed them on the table still without saying anything. We gave our order and when I went to take a drink of water I found that the glass was cracked and had a big chip missing from the top of the glass, I called the waitress to advise her and she just snapped the glass and walked off at the same time my boyfriend was returning from the toilets and saw her rolling her eyes as she walked off.
The food was served quickly but left a lot to be desired for, "steak sandwich" was a badly cooked, chewy fatty steak on top of a soggy slice of bread covered in pepper sauce to disguise the meat, must say it was the worst meal t have ever been served, the best part of it was the chips that were served with it. We had been travelling since 4am that morning and were looking forward to a nice lunch, unfortunately it was not. We paid and left quickly, our first visit to Wexford and memorable for the wrong reason.

Dear Summer 2612,

Thank you for taking the time to supply us with some feedback from your recent visit to the dry dock bar. We genuinely appreciate and respect your comments, as it is primarily through feedback that we can continue to exceed the expectations of our valuable customers.

It is very disappointing that your dining experience was not up to our highest possible standard of customer care and service. We all work extremely hard to ensure our guests expectations are not only reached but exceeded. I am saddened that we failed on this occasion.

I sincerely hope you will consider returning to Ferrycarrig Hotel in the future when we can demonstrate to you that your experience was an exception, and not what our customers have come to expect from Ferrycarrig Hotel.

Kind Regards
Jeanette O’Keeffe
General Manager.

Stayed in this hotel from the 6th - 9th Oct'13 on an Over 55's break. In an excellent location, had that welcoming and friendly feeling as soon as you enter and staff were equally so. Room bright and airy and with nice views of the estuary. Good variety of food hot & cold at breakfast and dinners were superb. There's also a splendid bar that serves food and a decking area to sit and enjoy those warmer days and other quieter areas around the place to relax, read a paper or book. If you were being super critical a few parts could do with a little freshening up but nothing spoiled our visit and look forward to returning again sometime in the future. C.B

Room Tip: Room with a balcony or terrace is a must to enjoy the views.

We stayed for two nights, breaking our journey from Dublin Port to West Cork, having previously stayed in the hotel about 18 years ago. The location is stunning and all rooms have lovely views over the river (many with balconies). However, we were dismayed to see that the rooms appear not to have been refurbished since our last stay. The decor was tired and miserable and the bathroom desparately in need of updating. The curtain on the patio door to the balcony was very dirty and there were cobwebs over the door. However, the public areas seem to have been refurbished and all the staff were very friendly. We had a very
good meal in the nicely appointed Dry Dock Bar on the first evening, Breakfast we felt could have been better for a 4* hotel - fruit, cereals and breads were good, but the cooked buffet was not of a very high standard, and on the two mornings we were there the temperature of the dining room was almost unbearable. In fact we decided against eating in there on the second evening for this very reason.

Room Tip: All rooms have superb views over the river

I stayed here for 1 night midweek for work. I was checking in early evening so didn't get a chance to use the spa/gym.

Overall, a pleasant hotel but I feel the 4* rating is down to the views over the water than the quality of the rooms & food. I have to compliment the staff at reception for the very warm welcome.
Rooms were fine - nice size but nothing special. Very comfortable bed. The views out over the water are fantastic and you can't fault this hotel's location. The shower was very poor. The head of it must have been clogged as it sprayed water in all different directions. The temperature of it was very hard to control - a slight move of the dial made it roasting hot or freezing cold - there was no happy medium. I did not enjoy using it.

I ate dinner in the bar and it was very disappointing. The starter was very good but the whole meal was let down by the main course. I ordered a pasta dish with grilled chicken in a tomato sauce. The pasta was grossly overcooked and the sauce had absolutely no taste whatsoever. I ate very little of it. When the staff member came over to clear away the dishes, I expected him to ask was everything okay, given how little of it I had eaten but he didn't say a word and took away the dish saying 'all done here?'. In hindsight, I should have said something at the time.

The breakfast selection was good. I didn't have anything from the hot buffet but the fruit/yoghurt/cereals were tasty.

I was using one of their meeting rooms the following day and the room set up was well organised. There was just a small issue with the temperature in the room as it got very very hot. You can't adjust the temperature yourself and it needs to be done from reception. Once the air con was on, it was very loud and made the room freezing. It was a bit like the shower in the bedroom - no happy medium!

Overall, it's a pleasant hotel and I would use it again for work purposes. But it isn't somewhere I'd return with my husband for a romantic break.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms don't have a balcony so make sure to request one if you want it.

A nice hotel overall. Location is outside the town so add on €20 for return taxi if venturing into Wexford at night. Reception area is quite modern and probably newly renovated but same cant be said for the rooms. Very old fashioned. Bathrooms straight from the early 90's and TV located too far from the bed to view. Walls paper thin too, had misfortune to have a crying baby as a neighbour! Staff are wonderful though especially those on reception. Staff in the bar were great also, very attentive in helping us to get a table on a busy night.
