We really enjoyed staying at Quamby over Easter weekend. The property is beautiful, and the rooms have been refurbished to a very high standard and are very comfortable. It's very dark and quiet at night, so perfect for a good night's sleep! The hosts are very kind and helpful.

Our children loved the animals - there are alpacas, chickens, a goat and a couple of cats. There was also a koala in the tree outside our room when we were there. There's a pool, but it was too cold to use it this week.

The hotel is about 30 minutes drive from Warnambool or Port Fairy which have many attractions. The Tower Hill nature reserve 20 minutes away is also really beautiful and a great place for walks. Our stay was part of a longer holiday on the Great Ocean Road.

Room Tip: We liked the School house. The mews rooms are smaller without the view.

We are so pleased that you and your family enjoyed your stay at Quamby Homestead (and that you spotted a Koala in a tree close to your room) as well as spending time with all our animals especially “Storm” the black miniature goat who loves to go for a walk on a lead just like a faithful dog! Overtime we plan to have even more animals for our guests to enjoy.

Tower Hill (State Reserve) is perfect for families to enjoy the walks whist looking out for Koalas, kangaroos and emus.

The School House has lovely views over the dam (and the start of the 2km walking track) and paddocks, prefect for the longer stay.

We stayed at Quamby whilst attending the Port Fairy folk festival for the Labour day long weekend. It was a very relaxing and peaceful respite, waking to the sound of the birds each morning , followed by a delicious full breakfast, included in the price . We stayed in one of the Mews rooms, which was modern and very comfortable . The gardens are absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed a stroll around the well marked walking track. Highly recommended for a relaxing weekend retreat in the country.

We were only staying for one night and really wish we had stayed longer, we were in the Old School House so we were a bit away from the other rooms. It was nice just being in the silence of the countryside, also imagining the silence that would have been when the buildings were originally built some 150 is years ago. We enjoyed the walk around the grounds especially saying hi to the Lamas! We are British and it was very atmospheric, in the sense we expected Nicole and Hugh to walk out of the front door any minute.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay in the School House which has lovely views overlooking the dam and surrounding paddocks. The 2km parameter walk starting in the gardens and then past the dams and paddocks is very popular with all our guests, often wallabies can be seen by the top dam! We have plans in the near future to double the size of the parameter walk!

On your next visit you will just have to stay longer!

A beautiful homestead - the gardens at the start of summer was amazingly beautiful. We stayed at the carriage house and it was very well equipped. The owners are very friendly , gave us nice breakfast everyday. Excellent place to unwind and relax walking around the gardens is a must.

Recommended for a weekend getaway - anything longer gets a bit dull and its a little far from the nearest big town.

Thank you for your review of your stay at Quamby Homestead and that you enjoyed the gardens surrounding the homestead with all the roses in their full colour at the start of summer. We hope we offer a different experience to a “city break” in a rural location (countryside/ bush) only 25 minutes from Warrnambool/ Port Fairy and close to the Grampians National Park and the Great Ocean Road with many activities close by.

Hopefully you had a chance to see some of the wildlife at Quamby: wallabies on the 2km walk starting at the dam behind the accommodation, possums at night time, our hens and goat, alpacas, cattle and the 2 cats!

We visited Quamby on our way back to Sydney. What a beautiful home where we were warmly welcomed by William and Ailsa. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and comfortable and the gardens were beautiful and so peaceful! Could have stayed a lot longer. We will definitely be back when we next return to Australia!

We visited Quamby as part of our trip down the Great Ocean Road to Adelaide.Although it was a little off the main route, it was certainly worth driving the extra few kilometres. The Homestead is beautiful and is being gradually restored by the owners, William and Ailsa. The accommodation is separate from the Homestead and has all been renovated to a high standard. We stayed in a Mews room, and it was very comfortable and well equipped with everything you could need. Guests have use of the lounge in the main house and you can pick up wifi there. Breakfast, which can be full breakfast or just Continental is excellent and is served in the dining room or on the terrace overlooking the garden. The gardens are beautiful and you can spend time walking around the grounds. Apart from natural wildlife, there are also some hens, alpacas, a goat and some cattle.
Whilst Quamby is surrounded by open countryside, it is only about 25 minutes to Port Fairy and Warnambool. A very relaxing and different b & b to visit.
