Very nice spot overlooking Lake Chapala, beautiful mountain views, good food and excellent friendly service. Can seat large dinning parties both in and out of doors.

The ambiance is lovely especially if you get to sit outside. The food is inconsistent and best if the owner Gerrard is there. The menu is presented on a chalk board with no prices...as is the wine. Which makes you ordering your food challenging and sometimes embarrassing...especially if you are on a budget. The house wine which the family makes is not the best and rather pricey.
Best value there...pizza and salad. Please ask for the prices to be included on the menu...the more that ask the owner might finally feel obliged.

The views of Lake Chapala, Mexico's largest lake (65 miles long), are glorious -- and this place has the best views of any restaurant on the north shore. It's a little outside of Ajijic -- just a 10 minute drive, but you will be rewarded. The chef is very pleasant and talented. I agree that the food can change a bit when he's not behind the stoves. But the food remains pretty good regardless, and whoa! that view. They bring out a big whiteboard with specials as the menu changes daily. I can't recommend any particular dish because it changes. But do try it. You will remember the view long past the meal.

This is a truly beautiful setting and very close to home for us. Most times we have been there the food and service has been excellent.

The last two times however both food and service have been extremely bad. Bad enough that we are considering not returning.

There was no tonic water, or juices for drinks, no brandy, very limited selection of cocktails etc.

The food was a disaster, especially the salmon which was not cooked properly, was still frozen on the inside and burnt on the outside.

The artichokes in roquefort could have done with a lot less vinegar. Really not acceptable for the prices charged.

The other couple with us, who live in Guadalajara were extremely disappointed since they are in the process of building a weekend home here.

If Gerard, the chef is not there, we will not return. Also if he is going to take the week off and put young people who have no idea of how to run a restaurant in charge, he will lose a good deal of local trade.

One last detail, I had made a reservation for four in front of the fire since it was a cold night. Even though we arrived on time they had given the table to another group of four.
