“Mediterranean concept of Dining-"Sharing with Friends"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2012

What a fantastic little restaurant in a tucked away location in Margate. Welcome to a new way of dining. The small dining room lends a casual almost family feel to the establishment. As soon as you arrive you are swamped with little plates of tapas; from hummus to grilled artichoke to dipping sauces and spring rolls. You then order your main meal, be it kebabs, steak, pizza, fish and cooked just how you like it. All the while you can keep picking at the many tempting treats remaining on the table. Eat slowly and take your time as your main meal will be here soon and you will wonder whether you can fit it in. Just as the table is cleared a beautiful little (as that is all you can eat) dessert appears to round off this fantastic meal with your choice of coffee or tea. Did I also mention the constantly refilled jugs of home made minted lemonade that was so quenching we kept topping up our glasses.
Now how much does all this cost you ask? Well just the price of your main meal, everything else is part of the price. Most mains cost from $33 - $36 but you definitely get value for money. Chef comes out personally to chat at the tables and the wait staff were faultless. Word will get out and it will be impossible to get a table without a booking, so check this place out as soon as you can.

“All I can say is go hungry!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2012

Wow! went for dinner on a friends recomendation, and it was spot on! From the wide range of tapas type food to the main course selection, everything was great! The bottomless fresh lemonade really hit the spot. We will return again and again!

“An Amazing Middle Eatern experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 22, 2011

This restaurant tucled away in Margate is an absolute jem. The idea / experince of eating at Pilpel is unique to Brisbane and based on the concept that you go to a restaurant to eat and not wait!

An asortment of tasting plate style starters are included in your meal price and are served as soon as you like when you arrive. Also inculded is unlimited chilled lemon/mint drink served in a jug on your table.

You are then off to select your main meal from display cabinet from meat kebabs, delicious saugages to great steak which will be cooked perfectly to your liking - mine was medium rare and tasted one of the best I've had for a long time. My wife choose a pizza option - another great tasting dish. The chunky potato wedges with my steak were another big hit with me.

Dessert as well as tea and coffee are also included in your meal price, and it's this concept that I do like. Alcohol is BYO.

Pilpel is open 4 nights a weak and has only been open a few months. This is a place to watch as I think word of mouth will make it grow well in 2012 - it certainly deserves to from my experience.

NB - Pilpel also offer a catering service, we're planning to try this next year for a work party.
