We had never heard of Peinado until we began visiting Ronda, but now make it our mission to introduce as many friends as possible to the works of this wonderful painter. A contemporary of Cezanne and Picasso, for me he has it all. Even if you do not like the work, it is housed in a beautiful old palace with an incredible internal courtyard which is well worth a look.

We visited this museum in February 2013. The museum focuses on the work of Joaquín Peinado who was born in Rondo and who was contemporary of Picasso. To be honest, we had never heard of him before visiting this museum, but we both really enjoyed his paintings. The museum is spread over two floors and is curated in such a way to make his work accessible. Its small size makes for a satisfying viewing experience and visit - that is, there is not a huge overload of paintings to absorb. At the time of our visit, there was also a small temporary exhibition of Picasso's ceramics.
An excellent museo and highly recommended.

An intimate museum housed in an historical building along a side street in Ronda. A contemporary and friend of Picasso, there are many similarities in style; however, I found Peinado more accessible and the museum more enlightening than the Picasso Museum in Malaga. Takes about an hour to see; easy to fit in on your way to the Puente Nuevo Bridge.
