“Beautiful oasis in a unique local - truly memorable!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2012

This hotel in Ronda was a highlight of our two week Andalusia trip. With friendly, helpful owners and staff, a stunning Andalusian patio with views of horses and sheep, and the best breakfast you could ask for, this hotel was awesome.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the atmosphere was relaxing and tranquil. Location is rural despite it being only a steep 7-10min walk up to the historic city center from the hotel but that didn't stop us from making the walk 2-3x per day up and down. It was good exercise and we'd take breaks along the way to take in the stunning scenery. You can opt for a taxi too.

I highly recommend this hotel - it's memorable and very unique.

This hotel has the ideal locaction. It is a the foot of the historical center and is therefore situated both near the center but also in the countryside with a lovely terrace overlooking a hill and meadows with horses. The breakfast is outstanding and the interior is charming and cosy. The hostess speaks fluently several languages which is quite unique in Andalusia.

The Alaveral is a beautiful hotel in a superb location, just a short walk from the historic centre of Ronda. The scenery is breathtaking from the hotels fabulous gardens with views of wild flower meadows, rolling hills & horses. This hotel has the best of both worlds as you are on the edge of the countryside but a few minutes pleasant walk to Ronda. The gardens have a lovely pool & beautiful terraces, one shaded one with a bench with a fountain. The gardens were a truly lovely place to chill out.We stayed here for 4 nights in May with our little girl Isabella. She loved it here. Our room was lovely with a huge moorish bathroom.Breakfast was delicous served on the terrace by the lovely staff, who are all extremely helpful & friendly.Christian was a great host & the lovely Miriam was always so charming. The interior of the hotel is amazing, the minute you walk in you know you have found a very special place. It's like a small moorish palace.

Alavera is well located in the historic area of Ronda next to the Old Arabic Bathes. There is a steep walk into city centre. If infirm a taxi can be ordered. Peaceful outlook onto country side, rolling hills. and nearby horses from the equestrian training facility. Serenely attractive a real bonus to return after a hot day to relax in the swimming pool and enjoy a beautiful garden. The breakfast is delicious with a selection of fresh meats cheeses and fruits served on the terrace. The availability of a delicious light fresh lunch was much appreciated compared to the rubbish served in the town. An interesting service "an honesty system". You can help yourself to drinks later at night and just sign for it, Our quiet room was smallish with a fan... wonderful views over the countryside.... it was colouful , well decorated and size did not matter for a couple of days. The staff are friendly happy to help and make your stay comfortable. If you are driving there is ample parking outside. With our experience May 2012 the address was not found on the GPS. A suggestion may be to give clear instructions on the website on "how to get there" once in Ronda. Congrats to the owners well done, you have an appreciation of what travellers want. We stayed two nights in May at Hotel Alavera de los Banos and found it to be a wonderful hotel with grand public areas, a garden patio, and sweeping vistas of the scenic Ronda countryside and horse pastures, in a very quiet location next to the Arab baths. Our room was small, typical of many European hotels but everything was immaculate and one could enjoy the large sitting room on the first floor. One must walk up the stairs and steep streets to get to the new bridge over the ravine. We are senior citizens and had no problem at all. In fact we walked back to the hotel in the late afternoon, freshened up and walked back up to beautiful Ronda for dinner. The served breakfast was excellent and enjoyed in their well decorated and attractive dining area. The owners and staff are most welcoming and helpful with any questions a guest might have. We had a car and parked right in front of the hotel with no problem at all. We highly recommend this hotel.

Good: terrace, pool, view from terrace, breakfast, French doors to private patio for some rooms.
Not so good: Room 204 upstairs, On the street, room is small, bathroom tiny with sticky shower curtain, noisy with traffic and several roosters at 5AM.
Be aware that the hotel is at the bottom of the gorge, so it is steep climb to town.

Room Tip: Not room 204

Sitting on the edge of the historic part of Ronda this fabulous hotel is quiet and relaxing but only a few minutes walk from the town centre. We arrived in the dark and the rain and were welcomed warmly by Christian. The next morning the sun was shining, breakfast was served on the terrace while we looked out at the surrounding flower filled fields and grazing horses-it couldn't have been more relaxing. The bedrooms and living room are decorated in the moroccan (moorish?) style and are immaculate yet comfortable and relaxed. Christian and his team could not have made us feel more welcome. I will definitely be going back and have already recommended it to friends.
