Depends where are you from, you describe this deep ravine as a gorge or a canyon or even as a “szoros” if you’re Hungarian by chance. El Tajo, name it as you like, a gorgeous gorge, or a captivating canyon is the riverbed of the Rio Guadalevín, and separate La Ciudad from El Mercandillo. On the side of the canyon, wildflowers are blooming, making this enchanting place even more attractive. El Tajo is spectacular and romantic as it fits a gorge. Now there is only a narrow stream is flowing at the bottom, but I can imagine that Rio Guadalevín is far not so peaceful after snow melting or after repeated heavy thunderstorms. I'd love to see it that time too.

Ronda is beautiful at every turn! The Puenta Nueva is spectacular. We saw it via the Interpretation Centre but also - and spectacularly - walked around to see it from the bottom of the gorge. The wild flowers are gorgeous in May. The other two old bridges are also worth a look. Ronda is compact and we felt that we saw the best of it with a two-night stay.

We visited Ronda for the day , a week ago and had a wonderful time out there.
The El Tajo Gorge was Gorge-ous!!!
We walked around the town, and were able to climb down to the lowest bridge on one side .
The Puente Nuevo bridge is very picturesque and a favorite spot for pics!
Lots of restaurants on either side and also gardens on one side which link up to the Bull ring! For those who want to shop, there’s quaint shops in the main market area.
Absolutely a must if you are visiting Malaga or Seville!
You can catch a bus from Malaga ; trains are few and far between because of the terrain .
Don’t miss the numerous birds from Cano Balcones , from the sides of the gorge.

Historical view of the river gorge and bridge from the riverside. Deep, impressive canyon. National park quality.
