“The Place To Stay In Ronda”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2012

Just back from another short break in Ronda staying at the Parador. 4th time in 4 years. Its just one of those hotels that you yearn to return to. Its location to the side of the ravine that runs through Ronda gives breathtaking views of the ravine and the other dramtic features of the area. The rooms are very comfortable and large, we had a superior room with a view over the gorge which has a small balcony but fabolous views. Staff are very efficient and helpful if soemtimes a bit serious, but that can be Spain! This does not take away form the quality of the hotal. The breakfast buffet was pletniful and good and the dinner excellent. They have a 2012 Michelin recommednation now which is reflected in a high standard of food. The public areas are relaxing and there is a pool (not spa) to cool you down. Car parking available on site as an extra cost. We stayed for a 3 day break (Golden days) which attracts a slightly lower room rate. Cannot recommedn thso hotel enough. Be back next year!!!

Room Tip: ask for superior room overlooking the ravine/gorge

This is a perfect sanctuary and so close to the gorge it is worth the money. Fabulously comfortable beds, private terraces, large marble bathrooms, very clean and coolly refreshing pool, worth every penny. This is the best place to stay in Ronda and the service is excellent.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the gorge

Paradores are just great. Parador de Ronda is just another example. Located in the middle of the city, right next to the old bridge, this marvellous building enjoys a fabulous location with a beautiful view to the sierra. Nice Parador-type rooms, nice breakfast, enough parking lots. I highly recommend that Parador.

We spent just one night in Ronda at the Parador. Really efficient service and an excellent room,No119. Right on the corner of the hotel overlooking the gorge in one direction and the gardens and el puente Nuevo in the other. The extra for a superior room was worth it. As usual a really good breakfast.

Room Tip: Go for 119 or 114

We have just returned from a 2 night stay in the Parador. It was too short. We'd loved to have stayed longer to enjoy Ronda and the peace and quiet of the Parador. Our room on the 2nd floor had a lovely view over the clifftop swimming pool, along with a terrace where we could sit out in the evening and sip our new favourite drink, Manzanilla Sherry! Ronda is a magical place and a stay in the Parador is the best way to enjoy it. Breakfast was a culinary feast and our only disappointment was that we were unable to avail of it on our second morning because the breakfast room didn't open until 8 a.m and we had a flight to catch. There was an English speaking gentleman on reception who is the most helpful hotel employee we encountered on our 2 week trip to Spain. He gave us tips on the best time to walk down to the gorge to take photos and also gave us vouchers to visit the Arab baths. We had driven the A397 to Ronda which has breathtaking views but is not good for the nerves but he gave us a map of Andalucia and explained a safer route for returning to Malaga for our flight home. Which, by the way is the A367 to Campillos and then the A357 to Malaga! Dinner in Meson El Sacristan if you're in Ronda is a good recommendation. We had fried aubergines with honey for starters which was delicious. Cafe de Ronda was also great for lunch. They do a fabulous club sandwich which was just the ticket after 2 weeks of tapas! Plaza de Toros bullring is also worth a visit.

This place really is all about the location. Ronda itself is a quite and beautiful old Spanish town well worth seeing. The hotel hangs on the edge of the cartoonishly steep cliff face that defines the town and almost forms part of the bridge that spans the canyon cutting the town in two. I stayed in the hotel during the summer and found the rooms to be clean and comfortable and finished to a decent standard. I wouldn't call it luxurious but no complaints. Staff were helpful but not in your face. Your in a premier location so the price was high but to be expected. Stay only for a night or two midweek and then move on. A great stop between the coast and Seville!
I cant say enough about the view. I'm well travelled but this is one of my favourite places to sit and watch the world spin.

Room Tip: The room I had was overlooking the bridge, amazing but got a little noisy as tours passed by and wou...
