If you have been working hard all year; you start fantasizing about somewhere in the middle of nowhere with a large bed, with no people, somewhere warm. Well, this is pretty much what you get at Finca Naranja.

We were warmly welcomed by Conchita and Bobo the dog and taken to our little poolside apartment which was very stylishly decorated and had a mini kitchen with a stove and coffee maker. The main attraction was the massive bed.

Outside is a large terrace with pool shared by the few other visitors, and has spectacular views of the Andalucia countryside and has the accompanying distant farm noises (cow/ goat bells and roosters). There is a outdoor bar, big trampoline and little wendy house for smaller visitors.

We enjoyed our breakfasts (which you make yourself) on our little private balcony with freshly baked bread delivered by Conchita. We enjoyed an evening meal under the stars too.

Ronda is about 10/15 min drive where there are plenty of excellent restaurants and things to do - you can explore churches, the city walls and the old town.

We also took a drive over the mountains to Malaga to see the Picasso museum - this was 2 hours each way. It's not too far to Seville where we also stayed - again about 2 hours drive. My only small complaint about Finca Naranja is that you have to drive down a steep dirt track to park your car, and we were a bit scared of damaging our hire car.

All in all, this was exactly what I was looking for for a relaxing break - a peaceful, tranquil and beautiful spot.

Tip- don't use google maps for driving directions as it is completely on the other side of Ronda!

Room Tip: You can call up and ask Conchita which room would best suit you - Conchita speaks fluent English. Th...

We found the details of Finca Naranja via the Mr and Mrs Smith website when we were looking for someone special to stay for our wedding anniversary. The photos of the beautiful cottages, the surrounding countryside and the tranquil pool sold it immediately and we booked 9 months in advance!!

After the bumpy 10 minute drive from the main road, panicking slightly if we had gone the right way (don’t forget to print the directions – you’ll be lost without) we were given a very friendly welcome by the gatekeepers – two very friendly and soppy dogs. We stayed in the luxury suite, which is the one next to the day-bed and near the pool. It was absolutely stunning. The interior was straight out of a design magazine, the bathroom beautiful and the views of nothing but countryside outside of the window were just amazing. I read in a previous review that they didn’t have air con, not sure if it was just the luxury suite but this one did. However the cottages are so cool inside we rarely used it, even though the temperature was high 20s outside.

The whole place is so beautifully arranged with a bench under a large tree for shade and the honesty bar, surrounded by bales of hay. We’ve stayed in “boutique” hotels before but none like this - Finca Naranja defines boutique. The pool is very tranquil and relaxing - but very cold!! Even with the Finca fully booked there was still room for everyone around the pool with room to spare.

It’s a 20 minute drive to Ronda so our tip would be to visit a supermarket before coming to stop up on some basic food supplies as you won’t want to leave!! The kitchenettes only have basic cooking things ie two hot plates (no oven or microwave) so bear that in mind if you want to cook in the evening. Bread, eggs, meats and cheese as well as teas and juice were already provided on arrival for us. Being at Finca Naranja in the evening is amazing as the stars are so clear and bright, and all you can hear (if anything) is the sound of the cow bells from the neighboring farm.

Like a previous reviewer we also took a trip out to Seville – it was a 1.5 hour easy drive – and we parked in the Park and Ride taking the tram into the centre. We thought Seville was beautiful and are planning to return as one day didn’t do it justice. Plus, it gives us a good excuse to go to Finca Naranja again!!

Sure, there were a few niggles – the bed was two singles pushed together, one night the dogs on a neighbouring farm barked loudly in the middle of the night, the bumpy ride in and out of the Finca after a glass of wine was a bit tedious – but compared to the absolute relaxation and beautiful surroundings, they paled into insignificance. We spent the next 5 nights of our holiday grumbling that we missed the dogs / cats / cottage / countryside etc etc etc. Can’t wait to go back for a bit more R&R!

Room Tip: Luxury suite is right next to the pool and day bed. The suite down the path from the cottages is ve...

Myself and my partner booked into stay at Finca Naranja for a few days in September, I can honestly say the cottage/ setting exceeded our expectations and was the perfect escape from city life. The decoration and attention to detail was impressive, there were a few insects in the pool - but I wouldnt let that detract from the experience it is a rural location. Overall I would definintly recommend.

Having disputed which of the two forks we should take on the road there (twice), we luckily made the right choices. Take a left at the very first which was where our main confusion arose. You soon forget all disputes and confusion when you arrive in this little haven of tranquility.

We had the larger cottage by the gazebo. It is stunningly designed. It even has a second double bed in the eves though this would only be appropriate for older children or adults. Down to the very ladder that you use to get to this, everything was beautifully styled and had a very relaxing feeling.

Rather than drive out for dinner, we brought some supplies (though the fridge was stocked with bacon & eggs, cheese, chorizo, butter, jam, fresh juice, milk, a bowl full of delicious fruit and freshly baked bread and muffins were delivered each morning) and chose to eat in. We were just a few utensils short - a colander or pasta spoon would have been helpful. If we'd been cooking for four (as the cottage caters for), the pot would have been too small. Little things really.

Like others, we loved the gazebo (if that's the right word) by the pool. We just hope everyone pops their towels down before lying there in the heat of the day. On our first evening, it was just so peaceful sitting there with our glass of cava.

I loved the fact that we were on the edge of a working farm; my husband less so. For me, it's nice to feel that life is carrying on around us.

When we met Conchita, she was lovely - helpful, welcoming and straight-forward.

We stayed in the self contained suite a small way away from the main house and swimming pool. We loved the isolation of the room - the only manmade sounds disturbing the peace were the next door farmer's tractor and the (very) occasional car passing on the road above the property. Conchita, the owner, has decorated the suite in a simple style, but with meticulous attention to detail including aroma sticks and scented candles. Cleaning each day was carried out unobstrusively, and the room was spotless every day.

The pool area is in terrific condition, and the sumptuous gazebo next to the pool is perfect for a mid-afternoon nap.

For sightseeing and eating, Ronda is an easy 10 km away, and there are several little villages nearby. We particularly recommend the Molino Restaurant and Hotel in Benoajan, beautifully located on a waterfall. We also undertook a day trip to Sevilla, about 1 hour 15 on an excellent road. With all of this, however, we were still delighted to get back each night to our little oasis of calm at the Finca.

Agree the only (minor) drawback is lack of effective internet access. There is a good wi-fi signal close to the main house but it does not extend to the pool area. This would certainly be an enhancement, but the accomodation is pretty perfect even without.

My husband and I stayed here two weeks ago. Great setting and helpful owner. The cottages are very beautiful, but they aren't big and we sweltered in our room with no air conditioning in the midsummer heat.

My only real negative was that the pool was literally crawling with large dead insects and never cleaned. My husband had to do it himself... Not such a prob for us, but not great if you have kids who need to cool off.

I also agree with the above review, its tricky getting back after dark and dinner at the Finca would be a great idea.

We stayed 3 nights at Finca Naranja in a room which was attached to the main house but with a beautifully sunny private courtyard surrounded by olive trees. The rooms was great but the bathroom lacked a little privacy. Breakfast was provided each day which we made ourselves - fresh bread and muffins were delivered to the door each morning. Conchita, the owner is great and very friendly and helpful. It is only a short drive to Ronda but not very easy at night after going to Ronda for dinner. Conchita - you should provide some kind of meal service for dinner, that would make the place perfect. After a day's touring it is not easy to drive to Ronda and back for dinner!
Unfortunately the internet service was very sporadic and there is no mobile phone coverage - hard to be completely out of touch!
We loved the fact that we were in the country and adored the gardens and the peace and quiet. I would definitely come back here if I was in the area in the future.
