“Ottime tapas vicino al Puente Nuevo”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

Consigliato.

This modern tapas bar is located in a very central position, close to the Puente Nuevo. It's quite small and quite trendy. I had dinner with some friends at the barra with a series of original and very good tapas, although the portions are not huge and not at low prices. Very kind the guys at the counter, with whom we talked and joked all the time. Finally we have also offered tasting of fine Xeres. Total cost for a variety of tapas, wine and water € 27 each. Recommended.

“Tapas with flair”
Reviewed October 16, 2013 via mobile

A modern take on a traditional Spanish dish in a lovely location. The dishes were small but unbelievable flavour combinations. We shared all of them. Our favourites: Langoustines in tempura with bay leave, Brie with orange marmalade, and the sardines.

“Excellent modern tapas”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

Traga Tapas is a very modern tapas bar in Calle Nueva a few minutes from the bullring and the 'new' bridge. The dishes my wife and I ate there were each superb - certainly the best modern style tapas we have had in Spain. We started with smoked sardine served with tomato on bread. The sardine was meaty and full of flavour as was the bread topping. Next we had cod gratin on ciabatta which was equally flavoursome. We followed this up with pork cheeks with potato foam which was an explosion of taste. The cheeks had been slow cooked to end up with something the consistency of pulled meat in a thick gravy. Served in a glass and eaten with a spoon, it was superb. With the food we enjoyed a nice house red wine. Service was friendly and efficient.
The bar has tables outside, in the pedestrianised street, and bar stools/tables inside. The look and feel inside is of a modern bar with screens playing music videos - but not loudly. For the quality of food, we didn't consider it expensive as some reviewers have.

“Very Good Tapas but Small and Pricey”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

We had lunch here our second day. It's close to the bullring and in the very touristy part of town. It's located on a street with LOTS of other outdoor dining options. Because of the location, It gets pretty noisy. There is a 10% surcharge for eating on the terrace. Service was average. There were a dozen or so tapas to choose from. Most of them are VERY pricey for what you get....(seriously, 5.80 euro for one white asparagus?!). We tried 5 different dishes and they were all creative and well presented. While on the small size, all of them were very good except one. Their sangria is also very good. If you don't mind the prices and very small portions, it's probably one of the better dining options in that area. 3.5 stars
