A modern take on a traditional Spanish dish in a lovely location. The dishes were small but unbelievable flavour combinations. We shared all of them. Our favourites: Langoustines in tempura with bay leave, Brie with orange marmalade, and the sardines.

Traga Tapas is a very modern tapas bar in Calle Nueva a few minutes from the bullring and the 'new' bridge. The dishes my wife and I ate there were each superb - certainly the best modern style tapas we have had in Spain. We started with smoked sardine served with tomato on bread. The sardine was meaty and full of flavour as was the bread topping. Next we had cod gratin on ciabatta which was equally flavoursome. We followed this up with pork cheeks with potato foam which was an explosion of taste. The cheeks had been slow cooked to end up with something the consistency of pulled meat in a thick gravy. Served in a glass and eaten with a spoon, it was superb. With the food we enjoyed a nice house red wine. Service was friendly and efficient.
The bar has tables outside, in the pedestrianised street, and bar stools/tables inside. The look and feel inside is of a modern bar with screens playing music videos - but not loudly. For the quality of food, we didn't consider it expensive as some reviewers have.

We had lunch here our second day. It's close to the bullring and in the very touristy part of town. It's located on a street with LOTS of other outdoor dining options. Because of the location, It gets pretty noisy. There is a 10% surcharge for eating on the terrace. Service was average. There were a dozen or so tapas to choose from. Most of them are VERY pricey for what you get....(seriously, 5.80 euro for one white asparagus?!). We tried 5 different dishes and they were all creative and well presented. While on the small size, all of them were very good except one. Their sangria is also very good. If you don't mind the prices and very small portions, it's probably one of the better dining options in that area. 3.5 stars

Despite the location in the city center with lots of tourist, the waiter only knew very little english so communication was a challenge. The waiter was behind all the night. When I got a dish I had to remind the waiter that I was still waiting for the wine. When I got the wine I had to ask for cutlery. And meanwhile the dish was suddenly not so warm anymore... Food was ok generally ok but the burger was overcooked and the Creme Catalan was burnt black at the edge. Go for Tapas de Locos instead - here the burger was juicy and medium cooked and the salmon really good, the waiter fast and service minded, smiling and telling stories on a fluent english.
