“A wonderful Anniversary lunch ...”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

A two day trip to Ronda to celebrate our very special Anniversary. Selected this restaurant on the second day due to it's spectacular location and scenic view. Lovely, warm and welcoming staff, great menu and wine, delicious food and yes, sitting admiring the scenery just completed the experience. The perfect way to round off a memorable two days.

We will return and maybe stay in the Hotel Monteliro (where the restaurant is sited).

“Amazing location, great service”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

We were looking round Ronda on a Monday evening trying to find a restaurant with atmosphere - Monday in October is obviously a quiet time here - and spotted this place from across the gorge, obviously full. We quickly found the entrance to the restaurant in the Hotel Montelirio and we're warmly welcomed by the head waiter. No reservation? No problem at all - we were asked to wait while they prepared a table and after about 2 minutes were led to a table on the balcony edge with a great view of the bridge, lit up at night, and across to the Parador on the other side. Service was excellent: friendly and efficient throughout. To start we had prawn croquettes in carabinero sauce and gazpacho. The gazpacho was very good and the prawns were pretty good too, but perhaps not memorable. I then had the roast lamb which was outstanding - perfectly cooked and as tender as you could wish for. This came with a very small selection of veg. My wife had the cod with black noodles which she very much enjoyed, but thought that the noodles, while tasty, could have been more plentiful. Maybe we should have had a mixed salad to go with the mains. The wine list featured a number of local (Ronda and Malaga) wines and ours went down very well. Overall a most enjoyable evening and the fact that the restaurant was full on that quiet Monday spoke volumes. We paid around €80 for 2 courses each plus wine and water, and including bread and olives, which seemed good value for the location and service.

“Beautiful Location for a Romantic Meal”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

We made reservations and got a table on the terrace near the railing with an incredible view of the gorge and valley below. The service was great, the wine was excellent, and the food was good. I had the salmon which was good. My husband had the oxtail stew which was good. The oxtail was not as tender as we've had elsewhere. Both dishes, while beautifully presented and very fresh tasting, in the end, just lacked flavor. The table behind us had the steak, which looked and smelled really good (we probably should have got that). Dessert was very good though. Fabulous view, nice service, and good food at a fair price. 3.5 stars.

“That's the way to do Ronda!”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

Last time I visited Ronda I thought I had not had enough time to take it all in. This time we spent a bit more money to have a glass of wine and some tapas in this beautiful hotel restaurant! We saw the balcony restaurant while stood on the bridge and thought we would take a chance, We were not big spenders compared to some of the dishes being served up around us, however we were made to feel so welcome by the staff. They let us have a leisurely few hours 2-4pm just taking in the view. Unintentionally we ended up having desert and I was soooo glad we did- beautiful mille-feuille with chocolate sauce. Yum.

“Atmosphere & location amazing. Food average.”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

The view is amazing. (Get there before sundown or you'll see nothing). It overlooks the best and most famous view in Ronda. Staff were friendly and professional. Dining balcony was lovely. I'd imagine it's completely open in the summer but there's a plastic window in October evenings which I presume is there when the weather isn't great. It hinders the view slightly but keeps it warm.
Starters were delicious. Wine selection was great. My wife's main (Salmon stuffed with Iberian Ham, pine nuts and spinach) was lovely. I had the suckling pig which was all bone and fat and wasn't to my taste at all.
Overall you could probably find better food but I doubt you'd find a better location.
