“PLACE FOR TOURISTS TO RELAX”
Reviewed October 9, 2012

This restaurant is ideally located in the old and historic part of RONDA, just close to the reknown bullring .It was recommended to us by the locals as the no.1 restaurant in town. Difficult to judge. We had lunch at around 2 pm and were the only guests inside the restaurant at that time of the day. The food was ok and so was the service.Slightly old fashion decor...in tune with the waiter who served us. Tips (10%) and I.V.A ( 7.68%) are charged separately.

“Recommended by a local”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

We were shopping at the Marquez Tienda on the walking street of Carrera de Espinel and figured that the woman working there would give us a good recommendation for a restaurant since they sell local food specialities. She recommended Restaurante Jerez down the street directly in front of the bullring.

We did wonder if it would a tourist trap because of the location, but we were pleasantly surprised. The ensalada mixta was large enough to share with flavorful lettuce, tomatoes, and white asparagus and tuna. The entrees we ordered were steak and presa iberica/black pig filets. The portions were generous and accompanying the potatoes were delicious.

As for the service, our waiter was very good, but there was a fat one with a snarky attitude. I speak Spanish and asked our waiter to explain whether the crema de verduras soup actually contained creme when Mr. Fat on his feet jumped in to tell us of course it did not. We ignored him.

We plan to return for another meal at this restaurant on our next visit to Rondo and plan to ask for another server if we see Mr. Snarky approaching.

“Great location”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

Slight tourist trap right next door to bullring. Offered good Spanish fare but slightly unatmospheric restaurant. Filled up much later about half nine.
Very good Spanish meats, and delicious lamb chops (could not fault).
More expensive as expected given location but overall good food and service.

“A Tourist Trap - Avoid this place !”
Reviewed July 25, 2012

We visited this restaurant- Jerez on the 23rd of July 2012. We had visited Granada and Estepona prior to our visit to Ronda. We had lovely experiences and excellent service everywhere we went and were very impressed with standards in Spain generally, until we visited this restaurant in Ronda! The waiter did not offer us the menu of the day even though he knew that it was that menu that had attracted us to the restaurant. As there were only 3 tables occupied we noticed that there was a 'go slow' policy in place - probably to try and attract more people in...as people are generally reluctant to come into an empty restaurant! We had to plead several times to get them to please bring us our food - both starters and main meal. We were so humiliated that we just asked for our bill and skipped dessert and coffee. Food was relatively good when it came but service was just unbelievably BAD and the waiters were rude. We normally are very reluctant to complain about anything but this made us so cross and we felt we needed to do something to ensure that Spain's good Tourist record and reputation was not ruined by restaurants like this one.

“Awful...do not go here!”
Reviewed May 10, 2012 via mobile

Five of us ate here in May and would advise you not to eat here. Food is terrible, overpriced and the wait staff could not be bothered.
