“Great for peace and quiet”
Reviewed January 5, 2012

My wife visited the Chalet for our first anniversary and recently went back for our sixth, though this time heavily pregnant.

The Chalet is famous for its food and the Davids are great hosts. The artwork and late 1800s/early 1900s decor make for an ideal retreat for couple seeking peace and quiet.

Not really sure if I'd want to go with little Miss in future, I'd feel bad for the other guests!

Medlow Bath is a lovely spot close to lots of spectacular lookouts - we spotted a rare Lyre Bird at the nearby Evans Lookout, putting together a nest alongside the car park.

It's also just a few minutes to Katoomba in the other direction, with lots of food, drink, scenery and entertainment options.

My boyfriend and I wanted just a short holiday and booked two nights at the chalet. David & David were absolutely charming and so welcoming. Our room was so pretty and perfect from the pink plushy carpet right down to the embroidered throw pillows. David was so helpful in directing us to destinations. The breakfast was wonderful, served in the most charming dinning room with a cosy fire. Snuggling up with a movie next to the fire in their smaller living room was blissful. We were so close to Leura,Katoomba and blackheath. We will defiantly go back.

Room Tip: We stayed in the front room, it was a perfect room for a couple.

My husband and I travelled to the Blue Mountains from Sydney for the weekend to catch up with some interstate friends. Our friends had booked this accommodation first so we decided to stay at the same place.
We were wonderfully surprised at the quality of the accommodation - the rooms were beautifully appointed, and the owners were fabulously friendly and very helpful. If you are not familiar with the area, the owners would be an excellent resource for exploring the area. The rooms were very clean and the bed was super comfy (I am 5 months pregnant so a bit fussy with beds!)
The family room was a wonderful area to relax and catch up with our friends. I am a frequent traveller for work purposes and it is not often that I find the accomodation worth writing about on TripAdvisor! This place is an exception. The cooked breakfast was delicious, and if you are looking for accomodation that offers service that goes the extra mile this is the place for you. I would love to return in Winter sometime!
Thanks for a wondeful stay!

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet - very tranquil and secluded (but not isolated) accommodation

We arrived late on a foggy night, and no welcome could have been warmer than the crackling fire and smile David had for us. There were four of us, and we opted for the family room, at the end of a hallway. The room was comfortably furnished, with central heating, blankets and extra duvets. The bathroom was original and superbly maintained. There were artworks by David on the wall and complimentary bottled water, tea and coffee.

The breakfast on offer was continental style - toast, an assortment of jams, cereal, yoghurt, fruit, coffees and teas. Not much to shout about, though you can also order a hot breakfast for a very reasonable price.

We loved the common rooms, furnished with lots of art, ceramics and sculptures. There is a tv room, but we hardly ventured there - there is so much to do and see in the Blue Mountains it seems a waste of time to sit in front of the telly. Our family room was clearly fitted out to suit a family - there was a television in the adjoining "kids" room and lots of children's DVDs to keep the young 'uns occupied.

Medlow Bath is about 10 minutes drive away from Katoomba, which is not a problem if you have a car; however for guests who don't have their own wheels, the location of this B&B means you will have to catch trains or buses to other villages. We didn't do the local bushwalk, choosing instead to take the National Pass, which starts at Wentworth Falls. David & David are very helpful and knowledgeable about the area, and we trusted their recommendations when it came to choosing a bushwalk.

Overall, lovely stay, very relaxing, comfortable beds, charming hosts (and Jones!). Highly recommend.

This is an excellent value stay in a charming guesthouse away from the bustle of Katoomba and Leura.

Accommodation is cute, tidy and very clean (we stayed in the cheapest room). The common areas are very cosy with a large lounge/dining room and a separate TV room. The only complaint really would be that the fire wasn't kept up in the lounge which would have been appreciated on a very cold and rainy weekend. The house overall though is very warm. The rooms especially have excellent central heating.

The continental breakfast is substantial and a hot brekky is also available. We had dinner one night at the house and it was a wonderful home-cooked meal, the dessert exceptional!!

The owners were very attentive but not annoyingly so. Also very generous in sharing their generous art collection which covers every surface of the house.

Great stay, we'll be back!

Stayed two nights with 4 other couples and had a fabulous time. Rooms are lovely with everything you could want and the breakfast is very good. Hosts David & David make you feel at home without you feeling they are there. Wonderful dining and lounge areas , handy for walks and close to Blackheath, Katoomba & Leura.
We had dinner in the restuarant/dining at night and could not fault the food and service.
We all thought the same - it was geat value for money and will be returning.
If you love a grand old guesthouse with modern conveniences- then this is it.

Room Tip: nothing to fault
