Even if Machu Picchu is the world wonder, what we both did here was just great. Solang was well prepared, had a book with her to present tools, ways of how they constructed everything 500 years ago and compared it to other places around. We visited Pisac, Maras, Moruy and Olantaytambo, a long day. Worth every minute and penny as we saw so much and our time was short. Good point here, never felt rushed. Must say we were lucky with the guys from exploor as our Rainbow Mountain trip with a larger group was not that pleasant.
Anyway, I think the Sacred Valley should be part of any itinerary when coming to Peru. It has more to share than Machu Picchu and the views are stunning as well.
