“Inattentive customer service in an overated resort”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

We have booked a week accomodation across New Year in 2012. We are four in our family, warned by the very small square meters, luckly we booked an apartment for 6 people: the place is really small, scarse place where to store winter luggages and equipment and you only have one bathroom.
Due to personal circumstances we checked in one day later: we certainly ended up with a substandard apartment, ground floor, a huge snow hill in front of every windows, no view ( many apartment have an excellent Mont Blanc view) and probably rejected by a previous customer the day before ( as we have found garbage in the waste bin and sigh of use of the toilet).
Staff at the reception are listening to questions and remarks but they are scarsely following up: our request to change appartment could not be accomodated as the resort was fully booked, but they have not sent either anybody to make the bed (undone when we arrived) nor to collect the garbage left by others.
The whirpool is cold ( less than 30 degrees) and the pool is even cooler: this area is empty in the morning ( everibody is sking), overcrowded from 4 to 730 pm and close at 8pm. Impossible to benefit for adult people that seek some quality relaxing time, only good for screaming kids. Another remark: you only access the pool area after walking outside in the snow from your building, prepare to fully change yourself ( boots included in a very small entrance) every time.
The resort has a good access to slopes, you have to walk few meters only from your building. If you need to go in town , viceversa, it is too remotely placed: you need a car . If you have non skiers in your group, you are in the wrong place!.
Access to your apartment buiding is via a security code. Nonetheless, there is no protection to any intruder if you go via the ski equipment room. They should equip also that door with a lock and with a code security pad.

Room Tip: ask for high floor apartments , select an apartment for your party size +2 .

I have been to this place four times, in winter and summer. We stayed in the Grandes Jorasses building, but all appartments seems to have a nice view on the Beaufortain and Mont-Blanc.
We like very much saunas : they are pretty hot (90 to 100°C) but authentics and good for relaxation. You can shop food near the main building : baguette, croissants, pizzas and traditional recipes from the Alps taste pretty good and owners are very pleasant.
We also practice the spa, which is basic but efficient.
The hameau is quite away from the village, but it helps you to relax.
You can go for skiing, hiking or whatever outdoor exercise easily from your appartment.
During winter, you can enjoy the Espace Diamant, but snow is always better on Les Saisies station, because of height and proximity of the Mont-Blanc.
During summer, the place is really charming and hiking can be practiced even for beginners or pros.

This residence is great for ski to and from the door. Our building Gautier was right by the piste.
However the appartment was quite disapointing. We paid for a silver appartment which was not one of the smallest and I am glad we were a party of four not 6. One bedroom only had a skylight. The other had a rear view of the other appartments. The kitchen was in a passage without natural light. The sitting/dining room was very small (felt smaller due to the eaves) and there was one window looking towards the balcony and mountains. However you could not look in the direction of les saisies itself. The kitchen equipment was fine but not much spare cupboard space. The bathroom was quite small. The pillows/duvets felt to be of poor quality and none of us slept well. I was disturbed by two noisy fans (the type you get in internal bathrooms) and could not find a way of turning them off. The childrens bedroom light was missing a shade and despite asking several times for this at reception it was not forthcoming. The residence accepts dogs and this unfortunately means there is dog wee/poo in the snow around the appartments. The swimming pool was very nice. Jacuzzis ok but rather too cold. Steam rooms nice. The adjoining ski shop was fantastic and we were very pleased with our equipment.
Les Saisies is a lovely resort but le hameau de beaufortain could have been designed better - the appartments lack space and there is not enough natural light. There is also a steep stone staircase from reception to the lower appartments and I worried my children would trip on it. You can take a lift to avoid the stairs but children can not take the lift alone. The price of the appartment was ok off peak but I would not pay the peak price for it. We have stayed in the CHG residence in La Rosiere which was much better.

This is our 2nd visit to these beautiful self catering appartments and we are about to book our next ski trip to return again. Ski-in-ski-out accommodation in the most beautiful resort. The town of Les Saisies is very small with one small supermarket several restaurants a few hotels and self catering accommodation. This is not a tourist hot spot or centre for great night life. Slightly off the beaten track but with fantastic ski-ing for all abilities. The accommodation at Le Hameau du Beaufortain comprises of several large blocks with 9 appartments in each block over 3 floors. The basement has ski lockers and a separate entrance so the main carpeted hallways remain snow free and dry. The appartments themselves are compact but very well equipped and comfortable. Lovely beds and nice bedding are provided. The best part about these appartments is the indoor pool and jacuzzi and steam rooms. This is such a luxury at the end of a great days ski-ing. It does get very busy in the pool and changing area and it is not the warmest environment, but that aside it is good fun and very relaxing. Another good thing about the complex is the on-site bakery and small shop that you can pre order ready made meals (roast chicken, pizza, lasagne) all at reasonable prices. Be warned though this shop opens at funny times and only bread ordered the previous day is your to take. (make sure your organised). We love this place and will continue to ski here for a few more years. Hope you love it too, but keep it to yourself!!!
