We stayed for one night during the flower season. The hotel's setting is rather lovely, and it feels like you're going back in time when you step inside. Old world charm and hospitality is at the order of the day. The rooms are huge and spotless, and it's fantastic value for money. The owner, Helmut is a lovely gentleman. We had a very pleasant stay.

We have been regular visitors to the Kamieskroon hotel in and out of the flower season. The hotel is owned by Helmut and Maryna Kohrs. The rooms are spotlessly clean and constant maintenance and checks by Helmut ensures that everything works. The food, especially the dinner is superb and is prepared Maryna and there is a choice of 2 menus each with a number of courses. I would have no hesitation in recommending Kamieskroon Hotel.

Outside the flower season the hotel seems to be a little bit dead. The interior and rooms are clean but look from years back. The bar was closed during my visit. If you pan for a longer evening, bring your own drinks. The staff is friendly and you can get a nice dinner in the evening. From here you can visit the Namaqualand National Park or drive to the coast to Hondeklipbay. Centrally located next to the main road but still quite.

Stayed in Kamieskroon and wanted to pop in to the hotel for a drink on a Saturday afternoon at about 4pm - the place was open but there was nobody around. The pub was locked and not a soul in sight? This once proud lively establishment is seemingly suffering from urban crawl and living expense limitations as people tend to rather stay at home than getting out there. The rating is not fair on the efforts of the hotel to survive and need the support of people to get back to what it used to be. Get a group together and get out there - you will not be disappointed. It is a wonderful area with people that still have real smiles and values.

Stayed here during the annual wild flower blossoming in Namaqualand.

It's a good location from which to do this because you can easily drive north the 70 km or so to Springbok and its wild flower nature reserves. Also the Namaqua National Park and Skilpad Nature Reserve are right next door to Kamieskroon, so this hotel is ideally situated for visiting there for the flowers.

The hotel is accredited 2 star by TGCSA and I think this is probably about right. It's a small family-run hotel. The rooms are a little basic but the staff are competent and the service is good. I requested special meals and they were happy to oblige with a lot of choices at breakfast time and also with a good dinner. They also helped me with a mechanical problem I had with my car without any prompting.

The hotel has no internet for guest use or pool. There are no other restaurants in the small dorp (village) so if you want more choice you'd be better to stay in Springbok, but I found it entirely satisfactory here.

Thought it was a little steep in price for B&B, but then they do stick the prices up for peak season here in this region when the flowers bloom.
