3 Elephants was a wonderful welcome to Kerala. They arranged a taxi to meet me at the airport so it was a nice gentle introduction for me to India - though by the end of the trip buses/autorickshaws and trains are far more interesting and way cheaper. One of the nicest things about staying here is the attention to detail - crisp, white cotton linen, robes and towels - makes it feel like a spa.
The best thing however (as has been written) is definitely setting your alarm for about 5.30am and getting up to watch the fishermen. Some enchanting music drifts over the water through the mists as the men fish. I went back to sleep for a bit and then woke for a wonderful homemade breakfast. Marjorie and her husband were very kind to me and gave me great advice for onward travel - she even tried to negotiate a discount for me at my next destination in Munnar - I got a taxi, but I would recommend the bus next time.
