“Great first stop in Kerala”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

3 Elephants was a wonderful welcome to Kerala. They arranged a taxi to meet me at the airport so it was a nice gentle introduction for me to India - though by the end of the trip buses/autorickshaws and trains are far more interesting and way cheaper. One of the nicest things about staying here is the attention to detail - crisp, white cotton linen, robes and towels - makes it feel like a spa.

The best thing however (as has been written) is definitely setting your alarm for about 5.30am and getting up to watch the fishermen. Some enchanting music drifts over the water through the mists as the men fish. I went back to sleep for a bit and then woke for a wonderful homemade breakfast. Marjorie and her husband were very kind to me and gave me great advice for onward travel - she even tried to negotiate a discount for me at my next destination in Munnar - I got a taxi, but I would recommend the bus next time.

The resort is very beautiful . Located in serene and peaceful location near cherai beach.
If you want to reach the resort better call the resort and asked them to book the cab for you else It will be difficult to find. The property is very nicely decorated and the staff is very friendly and helpful to make your stay wonderful. The restaurant does not serve beer or liqueur , So if you have to grab one you just need to go 2 miles in the cherai town and take one back to hotel. The view is pleasent and the cottage is amazing. Beach is just 2 mins walk from here. All the details have been nicely dealt with. Very good place for westerners and foreigners to stay with . For north indian food mite be bit of problem but the beauty of the resort and nearby restaraunt available covers it all. Do contact the hotel directly for more discounts rather then booking from some OTA(Online travel agents). Bon Voyage et profitiez bien !!

Room Tip: Do take the cottage with attach washrooms and make sure that they are totally covered

Very nice views, very tasty food and beautiful surroundings.
The best time to visit is not monsoon though :).
The chapathi pizza and banana chocolate crepe were very tasty.
The staff is very helpful and accomodating.

les 3 elephants is a labour of love that the two French owners have for Kerala, it's people, culture, art and architecture and it shows in everything from the traditional architecture to the service. The brown weed thatched rooms set in a cluster face a picturesque and calm water front. It's easy to forget that you are in a hotel/resort and imagine being in an idyllic local village setting. Even the beach is close by and without the usual tourist traffic. Service is exceptional and so is the food. must visit. Best of luck to the owners.

It is a nice cosy place, great room and an excellent view of the backwaters, the Chinese fishing nets and the beach so close by. The sit-out with your own private garden is great. Wish they had boat rides in the backwaters. We had stayed only for one night but it was a different experience. Look forward to going back someday.

Room Tip: Go for the First class Cottages as they are a great value.

Dear Patron,

All 3 Elephants thanks you for your review. We are glad you like our place. We are sorry for the boating. We used to arrange boating. It was not available when you came but we are presently settling a new boat trip on backwaters.

My finance and I came to stay here for 2 nights in June from the UK. It was the most romantic, perfect resort I have ever visit.

We stayed in bungalow No. 1 which over looks the backwaters and Chinese fishing nets and it was everything I had imagine from reading trip advisor. We came during the monsoon so there was lots of rain but things made no difference - we could sit on our balcony and watch the rain and the fishermen in action all day. The location is perfect as u feel a million miles from real life, the scenery is beautiful and the beach also very close.

The resort has a restaurant which served good food and the staff were truly excellent. It would have been nice to have been able to have a gin&tonic but this I the only thing I would have hanged from our perfect visit (and I understand licensing law in India make this difficult so few hotels in kerala serve alcohol).

We very much enjoyed our 3days and will certainly be returning one day.

Thank for having us les 3 elephants! Keep up the excellent work :-)

We had a great time at this tiny boutique resort. We only stayed one night. The service was great, food was amazing and we loved our room. The only problem was the power went out around 3am (normal in India) but it never came back on so we didn't sleep as well as we could have. There was a problem with a fuse I think because when my husband asked at the front desk (around 7am) it immediately came back. But the ambiance of the resort, food, and view from our room made up for it. I would come back here again. We got the honeymoon suite, it was not that much more than a regular suite and it was worth it, the view was incredible. The place was really clean and wonderful. Definitely recommend!

Room Tip: Pay the extra money for the honeymoon suite, it's worth it! The view is incredible and it's...
