Actually probably more than 3 reasons - rooms are fantastic, overlooking the backwater and chinese fishing nets, clean and spacious enough.
The staff were so helpful and always smiling. The food was fantastic! Only 2 minute walk to the beach. The location is just perfect - spend the first 4 days of our holiday in Kerala here and it was certainly the best. Loved the quiet and easy atmosphere here.

Room Tip: All rooms are set in a stunning location overlooking the backwater.

This beautiful resort is located in Kochi far from hectic life in urban area. I stayed for 4 days in this resort with three of my best friends.

Good Stuff

1. Goingkerala.com booked us this amazing low cost Kerala trip .The services and comforts of booking wgas par excellence .Their driver nd people co- operated in a very friendly nd humane way without looking to milk money

2. This place completely makes you feel relaxed so that you can make best out of your moment spent here.

3. The Rooms of the hotel were of top notch. The view from the balcony was breath taking, u get a panorama view of the beach.

4. The food menu basically consists of sea food which is their main specialty which will over power the vegetarians, so vegetarians would be a little disappointed though.

5. The beach is near the resort so you can easily walk down and enjoy your day.

6. The feel of sea breeze at night is marvelous you will crave for it when you leave this place.
Great stuff

1. This place makes you feel like you are really in a GOD’S OWN country.

2. The sight-seeing around the resort is also quite relaxing. You will mostly see that this place is mostly in demand when it is hot in northern India, giving this place an edge for it’s all time constant mild humid weather.

3. The service provided by the staff was quite decent and up to the standard, all the staff member were very polite in nature. The room service was always on time, never gave us the chance to complaint.

4. If you are really thinking to go to this resort with your family then I will completely recommend though not a bad choice for couples but couples are few in number as compared to Families.

5. The money spent while in this resort according to me was completely value for money because , in spite of it being such a good resort, staying in this will not burn a hole in your pocket.

6. From my side n my friends we will definitely love to come at this place again to enjoy peace of mind.I would say it was a vacation well spent.

I am so glad, that my friend took me to this incredible resort. If you are planning to visit Kerala, you can stop looking for an accommodation from now on. The 3 Elephants is a peaceful, quiet, nice, beautiful and relaxing paradise at Cherai Beach. The cottages are decorated in a tasteful style that makes you feel home, isolated from the rest of the world and happy. The cottage where I stayed had a little back yard with a Chill out, an open air shower and a bamboo swing. The four-poster bed with the light mosquito net gives you the feeling of being a princess in a jungle palace. Looking out on the veranda you can see the lake with the fishing nets and lots of palms and other exotic plants. Everything is very clean and tidy. The staff is brilliant. We were welcomed by a funny and open hearted French guy and also had the pleasure to meet his Indian partner who explained to us lots of interesting stuff about yoga and meditation. The waiters and receptionist were also lovely and I was even sad, on my last day to say good bye to all of them. The wonderful Cherai Beach is very close, there you can swim in the warm Arabic Sea, you can get some Coconuts, and have a Mango smoothie at the Chill out bar. We also visited Fort Cochin and the Kumarakom Bird Sancturary from there. The food of the restaurant was delicious. They have Wifi connection at the restaurant and reception area. It was a very pleasant stay and the price is very fair. I highly recommend this place.

We stayed for 7 nights, specifically requesting bungalow number one after reading reviews on this site, and our expectations were exceeded. We loved everything about this place: the food (we didn't stray from the clever, simple little restaurant), watching the Chinese fishing nets, the birds, the beach, the sea, sunrise, sunset etc. The daily "flock" of cleaners and the team of guys who alternated as waiters, receptionists, and yoga teachers all managed to create a special sense of community. And the ability to explore all Fort Cochin has to offer, more backwaters, and a traditional fishing village are all within easy reach.

It is a totally gorgeous experience staying here. It is very peaceful and incredibly stylish. The rooms are actually individual thatched bungalows, and each has a veranda facing the backwater lagoon and comfortable wooden planters chairs in the shade. Most rooms seem to have a private outside area behind their cottage with a small dining table, chairs and deck chairs. We stayed in two different cottages and both had different quirks, one had a stunning brass sink with a tap suspended above it, and the other had an outside writing desk. But every room seems to have a unbroken view across the backwaters and it is magical at night when the chinese fishing nets put their lights on.

The staff are friendly and highly competent. The hotel serves breakfasts, light lunches and dinner- the menu changes every day but we tried pretty much everything over a few days and it was all well-cooked and delicious.

The other highlight of this place is that you get the rare combination of backwaters and beach. The top end of Cherai beach is usually nearly deserted and clean, and its about 100m walk from the hotel. If you're staying for a while I'd recommend getting the number of a friendly rickshaw driver so you can be picked up/ dropped off further down Cherai if you fancy exploring- sometimes it can be difficult to find one on the road.

Utterly brilliant place. Definitely going back.

Room Tip: Cottage 1 has a/c but the fans work so well that you would be cool enough without it- but it does ha...

The best part of the 3 Elephants is the local Indian staff who are really the core of this place. They are so friendly, welcoming and helpful. I would highly recommend the morning yoga/meditation session in the garden with Harish as the sun rises over the backwaters and the villages come to life. Two mornings of that was a definite highlight of our trip. The food here is also excellent. Management/owners are not the most welcoming or friendly bunch but their staff more than makes up for it. And the location between the backwaters and the Arabian sea is pretty tranquil. The rooms may be a little overpriced for what you get, but the beds are comfortable. Not much else around so bring some books to read and enjoy the relaxation this spot offers.

Just spent a most enjoyable four night stay here. The setting is special, we occupied bungalow 1 overlooking the Backwaters and the very spectacular Chinese fishing nets. The Arabian Sea 100 yards in the other side of the hotel is equally spectacular. The accommodation is air conditioned, comfortable with adequate warm/hot showers despite power cuts caused by poor monsoon rainfall affecting the Kerala hydro-electric power supply. The hotel has an efficient back-up generator.

All the staff are particularly pleasant and helpful and go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and memorable; let them sort out a return tuk tuk trip to the Fort Kochi ferry. The driver will wait for you on the return trip some six or seven hours later. Not to be missed, very exciting and a strong message as to why you should leave driving to the locals. Fort Kochi well worth a visit, walk around to get the flavor, e.g. to the Jewish quarter via Bazaar Road (wholesale market area) and the waterfront fishing area.

Suggestions for improvement. Food was excellent although the vegetarian options after a few days became repetitive. Four restaurant tables for ten bungalows is inadequate especially as this is the WiFi hotspot. Expansion of the adjacent library to accommodate more tables is overdue. The manager although approachable and helpful should be more proactive in interacting with his relatively small number of guests.

Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Bungalow 1 superbly located and air-conditioned.
