“Enchanting Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2012

What a place to observe the Nature very closely with its all beauty. In the night, from the special beautiful place of each cottage, which placed in the back yard, we can enjoy the star studded sky; each and every cottage of “Les 3 Elephants” is having their own firmament. And in the morning, the captivating sun rise is not allowing us to stay on our bed. It is difficult to describe the great beauty of nature through mundane words. The experience itself is the benediction, this words is actually an invitation for others to enjoy the beauty of Nature in Les 3 Elephants. Each part of the Resort, even a small window, which is placed in front of the writing table, is providing an enchanting view of back water. People those who made the Resort - beautiful French people, are really did an excellent job, they placed the Resort so beautifully on the lap of Mother Nature, like a baby on the lap of her mother. Here everything is moving hand and hand with Mother Nature. And the staffs, food, their caring & helping, all are heart touching experience.
I visited the place “Les 3 Elephants” with my friend, and very soon I am going there again with my family. This maybe the best place where I can go with my family in Cherai…
When we leave that Resort then there will be a strong inner pull for the re-visit, it’s really a call from our heart.

We had the honor of being the very first guests at Les 3 Elephants, on Christmas Day 2011, and the only guests the two nights we stayed there. This is a kind of boutique resort with a highly personalized flavor, without some of the bells and whistles you'd find at a super-high-end resort, but also without the super-high-end prices.

I don't know why TripAdvisor doesn't have a category for food, but we ate all our meals there, and the kitchen really delivered on the promise of the simple menu of several local delicacies including of course the seafood for which Kerala is famous.

The proprietors kindly allowed our cat to stay with us, and he loved it too, but no guarantee they'll make this a general policy.

If you're interested in spending time away from the hustle and bustle (although Fort Kochi is an easy half-day or day trip) in a petite and friendly yet elegant resort, Les 3 Elephants is the place.

my wife and i recently stayed at the 3 elephants, a brand new hotel not far from Kochi, from the moment we arrived, all the stress of the journey just melted away, what a beautiful setting, the cottage we stayed in was so tastefully furnished, with glass doors that opened onto the lagoon, at night it was simply magical......the food was prepared each day by indian and french chefs and was unbelievable, fantastic curry's and the onion quiche was the finest i have ever tasted, the staff were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble, the perfect holiday, cant wait to come back

Room Tip: the cottages all have great views of the backwater, but the two closest to the water, although a lit...

Most hotel in Cherai Beach would probably advertise activities, bars and beach proximity.

Les 3 Elephants is another level altogether, as it is first and foremost a truly beautiful haven of peace and quiet, with a superb view of the backwaters from each room -- you would want to stay in this hotel solely for the magnificent view of the sun rising above the water every morning, breathtaking.

Not only will you find peace and tranquillity in their rooms (each with a different settings), but their restaurant is really top-notch: a mix of Indian and European food with a cook at the top of his game, which is truly a rarity in Kerala.

Last but not least, the hotel is handled by friendly people, lead by the lovely couple Marjorie and Benjamin (and their cute daughter), their friend Thibaut, and their very caring and smiling staff. Not only do they make sure your stay goes well, but they'll also go out of their way to help you with your plans when visiting the surrounding area.

It was always a pleasure to come back to this quite place and whether enjoy the calmness of the location, the restaurant's food, or the friendly discussions with the owners.

We stayed in this hotel two times in January - it was great! I can say that this is the best hotel on Cherari and Kerala in general. Hotel opened in January 2012. It consists of small cottages furnished with good taste. Owners unbelievably friendly and kind. Staff very attentive.
The view from all the houses on the lake. Each cottage has a small fenced off area outdoors. We lived in 2 houses. Each of them worked perfectly souls. Big Beach is a 5 minute walk. But the water in the sea is grey. Almost no people there.
Around a very quiet and peaceful - a place suitable for a romantic holiday.
For entertainment there is nothing around, 5 minutes to travel to the main beach, where you can find several restaurants.
Recommended to take the bike and ride around - this is a very beautiful area!
As for the hotel, you must also note that there is a wonderful kitchen! There are European and Indian dishes. Just incredibly tasty!
I highly recommend the onion pie!

I have stayed in three of the main hotels in Cherai over the last two visits to this area and as soon as I walked into this place and had a look around I thought this is exactly what I've been looking for.

Opened about a month ago, Les 3 Elephants is a warm and friendly, beautifully designed eco resort overlooking the backwater with about a dozen huts with traditional Kerelan style roofing which makes them particularly and surprisingly cool throughout the day. All the rooms I saw were well appointed and clean with attention to style and functional detail throughout, and my room had a private outdoor lounge area with a fan, perfect for reading in the evenings. The outdoor restaurant is a friendly gathering place throughout the day, with a different menu each evening, serving indian and French cuisine. The staff were also friendly, efficient and helpful.

All in all, a perfect and peaceful location at the end of a village, with a lovely atmosphere, only a few minutes walk to the spacious beach, a 5 minute ride to Cherai Beach junction and 10 mins max to Cherai town. Well worth a stay here for a while.

Anand
