“Forget the negatives just go and try”
Reviewed September 8, 2012

Hi all. Just been looking at the photos put on here and must admit they do look off putting but my partner and i along with friends have just been to Sand Bay Leisure Resort and can asure you that things have been put in place to clean up. We were there the 3rd to the 7th of September and yes there are parts yet to be updated but all in al we had a brilliant time.
All we have is praise right from Theresa on reception who sorted out a minor problem on day one without any problem to the entertainment staff with Scott and his team. Not forgetting the Chalet maids who kept our chalet spot on. The food and the service was some of the best we have come accross for the price we paid and we have holidayed in 4* and 5* both in England and abroad.
All in all a brill time and will be deffinately be back

We Just returned from a 5 day break a party of 4 adults at Sand bay leisure centre, and we had a fantastic time, Starting with receptionist Theresa who was very helpful. in changing the chalet due to having a problem of getting in and out of the bath, and change us with 2 different chalet with showers.
Starting off with the chalet, yes it is basic but clean well kept with a nice shower plenty of hot water any time of the day. The Meals were excellent with lots of choices and the waiter service from Abel who was attending our table was second to none, nothing was too much trouble and a very pleasant young man,
The Entertaining was very good, with 2 different venues and plenty of variety of programmes to choose throughout the day and night,The resident band was very enjoyable .
We will soon be booking again in the near future Well done to all the staff in Sand Bay who works so hard.

Room Tip: Ask for shower chalets if you have problems with mobility

My wife and I travelled by coach to Sand Bay on 06/08/2012 where we found the area around the resort was very clean and tidy and very pleasant to sit around in,the accomodation was basic but clean and the linen pristin the entertainment was first class and the resident band was quite outstanding ,however if you want a hot meal you should get it yourself from the severy counter rather than wait to be served.Having said that would we go again ? you bet we will even if it is to have the chefs home made fish pie. If you like dancing and bingo this is the place to go.

Just got back from 4 night break. Chalets are awful, 1 single electric socket nowhere near the kettle. Can't see in mirror when you plug hair dryer in. Food ok but very rushed. Whole site needs lots of TLC. To add to the insult found that we had paid nearly twice as much as our table companions!!! Would not return.

My wife (56) and I (58) are lucky to take our holidays all over the world (working class,no snobbery here). We booked Friday too Monday here as my wife injured her foot and is not allowed to fly. I was shocked when saw the chalet, wooden door, metal single glazed windows. However it was clean inside, a very comfortable bed . Tea, coffee making facilities, complimentary wine soft drinks sweets and biscuits (our chalet was an upgrade) Food very good, good beer, staff polite and helpful, good entertainment. Personally I felt uncomfortable as everyone else was so much older than me, I would have liked a cross section of ages.Unless it's themed it will usually be quite elderly people who like dancing and bingo. Here's the thing, they have a winning formula, they give the people exactly what they want, if it's not broke they don't need to fix it! It didn't suit me but it suits all those who return time after time, many several times a year.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a better room

OK, the chalets are basic but the food is plentiful and good if a little dull, the facilities are great and the surroundings excellent. The entertainment is better than you may expect from a place of this type. Having said that the average age of the clientel is about 102. If you are around 55 you may become the prize in raffle!

The antique holidaymakers may suprise you however, I went out to a local pub and called in to the ballroom for a night cap to find it full of gyrating octogenarians well after midnight.

If you dont expect 5 stars and look at the excellent value for money you wont be disappointed

Room Tip: There can be quite along walk from some of the chalets for the less mobile
