“We didn't want to leave!”
Reviewed June 23, 2012

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful seven night stay at the Blue Boy Inn. We had originally only planned on staying 5 nights but after spending 2 days at BBI, we decided we didn't want to go anywhere else. We cancelled our plans to go to San Juan and stayed at BBI for the remainder of our trip. From the moment we arrived Marc made us feel like we were a guest in his home.

Grounds: The property is a miniature tropical oasis in Rincon. Beautiful, well maintained plants and fruit trees are spread across the property. There are also animals that make their home at BBI: Baby Cayman crocodiles, pheasant, hawk, cockatiels, turtles and two well loved cats. In additional to the plans and animals, the rest of the grounds are well taken care of and there are many extras that you won't find at other properties in the area. There's a beautiful pool, hot tub, bbq grills, and a fire pit that add to the experience at BBI.

Breakfast: The breakfast at BBI is top notch! Marc does an outstanding job preparing breakfast each morning. The french toast, crepes and breakfast potatoes are to die for! I wish I could have Marc's breakfast every morning. In addition to the hot breakfast items, there was a wide variety of yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, and other common breakfast items.

Room: We stayed in Room 4 which was right next to the lobby of the inn. The room was a great size and we had plenty of room. the only thing I would do differently on our next visit would be to pick on of the more secluded rooms not on the main walkway. We were never disturbed, but we did have to make sure to close the curtains :)

Hosts: Marc and Sara were excellent hosts. They provided wonderful recommendations on activities and restaurants in the area. It's clear that they both genuinely love their jobs and want people to love PR as much as they do.

Beaches: We walked to Steps beach and to the beach by the Lighthouse several times. It was a short walk, but you can also drive if you don't want to carry all of your beach gear. We actually didn't go to the beach that was so close to the inn, so I can't provide a review on that beach.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at BBI. We hope to make a visit again soon! I can see that this could be place that we return to year after year.

This is a perfect romantic getaway for a couple in the "country region" of Puerto Rico.

Grounds

My wife loved waking every morning and greeting Marc's menagerie. She said hello very morning and finally goodbye on our last day to all the animals. It's a very tranquil meditation type of garden.

The pool is beautiful. Only used it a couple of times since the beach is a few minutes walk away.

There is a really nice deck above the pool with couches and tables. I fell asleep out there one morning.

Also there are BBQ's available. Didn't see anyone use those. We were to busy sampling the local cuisine.

Rooms

My wife never looked at trip advisor and driving through town and seeing some of the run down buildings she was a little concerned. Very pleasantly surprised when we arrived

We stayed in Room 1. Nice bathroom- very clean. She really liked the storage space available in the closet.

Breakfast-

Someone posted average I don't know what they're used to. This is a small place so it's no buffet at the Ritz Carlton.

However, Marc "hooks up" breakfast. Marc is French Canadian and I have never had crepes as good as his before.
Also he makes potatoes with chorizo that are out of this world.

Location

Great Sandy beach just a couple of buildings away.

You need a rental car when staying in Rincon. We rented a Jeep and were glad we did.

Marc must like to walk a lot. Steps beach is incredible for snorkeling. You can walk but we chose to drive. The lighthouse is further 30- 45 minute walk each way. Again we drove.

Conclusion-

We loved our stay so much that we booked in advance for November can't wait to come back and surf the big winter waves. Thanks again Marc.

We stayed here for our honeymoon, and were truly taken in by its beauty! Marc, Sarah and everyone who helps at the BBI do a wonderful job at maintaining an inn that makes you feel like you are in an oasis! After reading all of the positive reviews, we had high expectations and were not disappointed. On top of the grounds being great, the location of the BBI is top notch: quiet, and close to the beach, with several restaurants nearby. If you love animals, then you'll be happy to know that Marc has two cats, several birds, and a few reptiles. The Blue Boy Inn deserves every accolade it receives and certainly deserves your patronage if you're reading this!

We went to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary. My dad lives on the island so we took some time from visitng him (sorry Dad, you know we love you) and spent 4 glorious days at BBI. It was exactly as it was described in Trip Advisor. We stayed in room #6, very quiet and seculed, but next time we'll stay in A or B, right at pool side. Our room was warm and inviting. Great size, very comfortable, very quiet and secluded...very pretty. Breakfast was such a treat every morning. The grounds are immaculate as well as the rooms. The people are pleasant. Marc and Sara are devine and such gracious hosts. I wish I could have stayed longer....can't wait for next year. Marc, I believe you have a new regular guest! Thanks for your hospitality!

Marc and his team thoroughly deserve every Trip advisor award and outstanding review that they have received. From the moment we arrived we were bowled over by how incredible the B&B was. At the Blue Boy Inn, Marc has created a paradise within paradise (cute rooms, beautiful garden/relaxation area/amazing service/top quality breakfast). It was difficult to decide whether to stay within the beautiful luxury of the B&B or go to the Caribbean beach 1/2 a block away.
Marc strives for perfection for guest experience and in our eyes has without a shadow of a doubt achieved it. Attention to detail within every aspect of our experience (service/comfort/luxury/taste level) made staying at the B&B a warm/relaxing and very special holiday. There will be no contest on where we stay if we get to go back to Puerto Rico.
Thank you so much Marc and team.

We chose Blue Boy because of the reviews but it exceeded our expectations. What makes it special are Marc & Sara. We stayed in room #5 & loved it. The mattress was excellent. Breakfast is amazing! In fact, everything is amazing! We were celebrating our 10th anniversary & thanks to this place, it felt more like a second honeymoon! For our honeymoon we had stayed at the Frontenac in Quebec City, Canada. While that is a gorgeous city and hotel, we prefer the Blue Boy Inn because of the cozy intimate feel to it and the way Marc & Sara took care of us. Marc even had quebecois maple syrup for the crepes! I would go so far as to say that Marc IS the Blue Boy! You will not regret coming here! Thank you so much, Marc & Sara! You are beautiful people, outside & in! We wish the best for the both of you! We hope to see you again....

Room Tip: If traveling from San Juan airport, do NOT take route 2! Take route 22. Because of taking route 2, i...

We arrived in Rincon after 3/4 hours of traffic from San Juan, and we were greeted with a pleasant smile from Marc as if we were old friends. This is possibly one of the nicest places of ever stayed, and I will definitely be coming back. But lets get to the review:

We arrived and Marc showed us around the gorgeous grounds. There is a community fridge and cabinet. When a guest leaves they can put items they can't pack or won't use (sunscreen, shampoo, beer, mustard, meat) in one of these two places. They are free for everyone to use. One day my boyfriend and I got hotdogs from the local supermarket and we didn't have ketchup or mustard but sure enough there was some in the fridge! The pool was fantastic! It was great being able to take a midnight dip in the pool! It really felt like it was your pool, or a pool shared with friends. There is also a hot tub (never went in but I'm sure its great!). Another great feature of this B&B is that there are two grills to use. You can honestly pick up some chicken and grill it on the BBQ. I don't know any hotel you can do that at!

Every morning there is a breakfast with a wealth of choices. Everything from food made (eggs, french toast, crepes, home fries) to fruit, bread, yogurt, cheese, spreads, coffee, and orange juice. Everything was delicious.

Our room was very spacious we stayed in 6 because it was secluded. It was a very nice size room and very clean and comfortable. The maintenance room is right next to room 6 but honestly you wouldn't know. You do see the cleaning lady around, but no more so than seeing her around the grounds in general. The room had a large flat screen TV with many channels including HBO! There was also a mini fridge to use, with cups, wine glasses, and a wine bottle opener! These rooms were clearly well thought out. The decor has a tropical feel without being cheesy. Its all very tastefully done. Also the bathrooms are a very nice size, and the shower is amazing!

One of the possibly best things offered at this B&B is that there is a "book" of activities Marc has composed through the years. Everything from coffee plantations, to surfing. Thanks to this book we got the idea to go see a lovely coffee plantation!

I could probably talk about this place all day, because not only was it beautiful and amazing, but Marc and his staff were amazing. You really felt like you were visiting friends! I will certainly be coming back!

Room Tip: All room are great!
