“Best Rincon Beach Bar”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

Tamboo is a bit of a tourist bar located on the south end of Sandy Beach and right in the heart of the Puntas area. In 2011 their deck was washed away and the new and improved one is larger with more seating and a second story that features couches and a fantastic view of the ocean.

I recommend going there during the day if you are lying out on Sandy Beach or in the evening for live music. The mojitos are top notch, although they ran out of mint during the Christmas break in 2012. At night they have affordable drink specials, typically on Bacardi rum and local beers such as Medalla.

The food used to be bad, but the last time I went, I was pleasantly surprised. The fish wrap was great, especially for $9, and my girlfriend's salad looked tasty as well. Perhaps with a new deck came a new chef/menu. All of their food is reasonably priced.

On the weekend nights, Puerto Ricans and tourists alike flock to Tamboo from all over to enjoy the DJ's and good drink deals. The place gets fairly packed and is a lot of fun.

Honestly, any time is a great time at Tamboo. The bartenders are always friendly, the drinks cold and the atmosphere at the edge of the beach cannot be beat. Just don't go there looking for the sunset as it faces the wrong direction.

Enjoy!

Excellent Food, Superb Location. Would definitely return. Don't expect speedy service. Great entertainment on the night we were there. Great beach view.

“nice meal, fun place”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

Enjoyed dinner/drinks at Tamboo our last evening in Puerto Rico. I very much enjoyed the steamed mussels. It was late but I'm sure the view is fantastic during sunset. The romantic loungers on the upper deck are a nice touch. They get extra kudos for having NFL games on Sunday.

“Soup from a can?”
Reviewed December 19, 2012

We came here because we stayed at the Casa Islena and it was the only restaurant that was opened nearby. Ok, I know people don't come here for the soup, but I wasn't feeling well and thought some soup might help my stomach. What I got was a small cup of salty soup, so salty to the point of being inedible, and that tasted like it came from a can. How much was this canned soup? $8.50. On the other hand, my boyfriend ordered the pork chops and said the liked it.

“Good food, a tad on the pricey side though.”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

The food was great, live music atmosphere, just a little pricey for better menu items...I had the chicken breast and mango chimichurri which was pretty tasty.
