My wife and I were on our honeymoon for 10 days beginning 9-9-09. We are a "40 something" couple and had been to the NW part of Puerto Rico before. We had also seen the Horned Dorset Primavera online. We decided to treat ourselves on our one week anniversary, but could not make arrangements to go until the eighth day after our marriage.

We made 7p reservations and were invited to come watch the sunset from the veranda. We arrived early enough to see the gorgeous sunset and enjoyed bartender Tony's delicious rum drinks (I had the Barillito 3 Star - rocks and my lovely bride had a rum punch).

The chef sent down a cheese/apple plate while we finished our cocktails, and we were escorted upstairs to the dining room by Tony to find that we were the only guests, save a party of 6 in the private back room. We felt like royalty!

My wife ordered the carrot ginger soup with a grilled lobster entree and I had mussel/fish chowder with medallions of pork. Both the soups and the entrees were unbelievable!

We have both dined in fine establishments before, but the setting, the service, the intimacy and the food were without compare! Between Tony and our Maitre d', Enrique, our every need was taken care of. When asked if it was a special occasion, I told Enrique of our "anniversary" - we finished with a Grand Mariner souflee (just a BIT decadent!!) with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate around the edge of the plate.

While not everyone will be able to go to the Horned Dorset "privately", I can only imagine the same detailed service would be given to every guest of the restaurant, regardless of the number of diners.

We loved every aspect of the Horned Dorset Primavera and will return!

My wife and I visited Rincon last week and decided to dine at The Horned Dorset. We were snubbed by the wait staff as soon as we entered the restaurant. I should have listened to my wife and left after we ordered cocktails. Dinner was ok, but not worth the price. For the final straw I ordered coffee and dessert. Coffee was brought to me and then I never received my dessert. The table next to us ordered dessert after us and received there's. That was it we asked for the check and split. Don't waste your time or money for snobby service and so-so food.

I cannot comment on the overall experience at The Horned Dorset as we did not stay there. However, we had heard so much about the property that my husband and I decided to eat dinner at the restaurant during a recent visit to Rincon.

We began the evening by having a cocktail in the bar - what an amazing view! My husband and I marveled at the gorgeous design of bar area and the tranquil setting. Our drinks were delicious, the bartender was very friendly, and the resort's dogs were very cute. It was very peaceful and romantic to sip a drink while looking out over the water.

Dinner, however, was not as wonderful as our cocktail hour had been. We were disappointed in the decor of the restaurant. It was very cold and formal - it had tall ceilings and tiles floors so quiet conversation was nearly impossible. Although the dining rooms were attractive enough, they lacked warmth.

We were also disappointed with our meal. The food was good, but for the price (close to $300 for two people, including a bottle of wine), we expected more. Again, the food was not bad but not quite as extraordinary as we had hoped.

The service also left much to desire. The wait staff never smiled or made eye contact with us. We tried to make polite and friendly conversation with them, but they did not engage with us. In the past, when staying at other Relais and Chateaux properties, we have been impressed by how warm and friendly the staff has been. This experience was uncomfortable and disappointing.

One member of the staff, however, was exceptional: Pucho (spelling?). Unfortunately, we had not planned well for the 15 minute trip back to our B&B from the restaurant. We did not do enough research to find out that it would be very difficult to get a taxi back into town. When we asked the maitre'd if he would call us a cab, he informed us of this problem and offered to give us a ride!!! We were touched by his kindness and willingness to go above and beyond to help us.

Needless to say, Pucho's generosity impressed us and gave us a more favorable view of the Horned Dorset.

Despite an overall average experience, we would consider staying at Horned Dorset in the future. Pucho was so great and we have heard such wonderful things about the hotel. Plus, the general manager, Wilhelm Sack, was an amazing manager at Horizons and Cottages in Bermuda many years ago.
