“Good home cooking, beautiful place”
Reviewed November 20, 2013

In late October, my wife and I stopped for lunch at Aida's (recommended by or tour company, Kuoda) and stayed for quite a while, touring the organic garden, and admiring her husband's outstanding watercolor paintings. Aida is so charming that the fact that she speaks very little English was not a problem. We very much enjoyed ourselves. It seemed like we were visiting a Peruvian relative. She prepared some regional dishes and some international ones. A very pleasant respite. We are both painters and foodies, so Aida's was a double treat.

Aida's house is located in beautiful Calca, surrounded crazy impressive mountains on all sides, the perfect place to explore the sacred valley from, an incredible garden that they grow themselves and breakfast with all homemade/homegrown/home everything! More than anything, I felt like family and ended up staying much longer than I expected....and actually never going to Macchu Picchu as planned. I was too content to sit in the garden and talk with Aida and Kinkulla! I would highly highly recommend this to anyone coming to Cusco. Although after coming here, you probably won't want to go to Cusco ever again, it's so wonderfully tranquil and Aida and Kinkulla are such loving and accommodating hosts. You could really spend an unlimited amount of time here just looking at Kinkullas paintings, looking at Aida's incredible work in the garden, and eating the tastiest breakfasts of your life... and more than anything just resting in complete peace!

Room Tip: You can't go wrong in choosing a room. They are all incredibly beautiful and sunlit in front of...

My family and I along with our good friends had the genuine pleasure of meeting Aida and Kinkulla in August. From the moment we pulled up to their beautiful oasis, we felt their warmth, hospitality and love. Kinkulla gave us a full tour of their lovely garden and we admired their green thumbs and cute rabbits. We had the most amazing meal at their pretty dining table and each course was prepared and served with amazing artistry! (My boys especially loved the spicy salsa!) After lunch we asked to visit Kinkulla's studio, where we admired yet another form of beautiful artistry.

We shared many hugs and took several photos with Aida and Kinkulla before departing, which we've since shared with them via email. They are truly one of top highlights during our two weeks in Peru. We feel so grateful to have met them and privileged they are now part of our lives. We hope to return to the Sacred Valley to visit them again one day.

What a great discovery: Aida's house! Surrounded by a beautiful and lush garden of fruits and flowers in a mountainous landscape, the house of well known aquarellist, Kinkulla and Aida is the perfect place to rest, contemplate and visit the Sacred Valley. Way better than staying in hectic Cuzco and perfect to prepare your visit to Matchu Pitchu! Aida's cuisine is also excellent. I stayed four days and I am thinking to get back! Wonderful people with great heart!

In full disclosure, I have known Aida and Kinkulla for a very long time, and they are good friends of mine. I lived in the Sacred Valley for a number of years and came to become very close with this family. They welcomed me like a son and were always the warmest, most genuine people, full of smiles and cheer. Their house is absolutely beautiful and the rooms they have built to have people stay in them are extremely comfortable. Waking up and walking out to be met by the warm sun while surrounded by their beautiful and amazing garden of fresh vegetables and flowers while looking out on the mountains of the Sacred Valley is truly an experience to remember. I cannot speak highly enough about this family and this household. I promise you will absolutely love your experience.

Living with Aida and Kinkulla in this charming homestay for four weeks in June/July 2011 was an amazing experience. The house is located in the Urubamba Valley (Sacred Valley of the Incas) and walking through the well-kept garden provides you with amazing surround views of the mountains. Aida was an amazing hostess and she made sure there was always plenty of authentic, home-made Peruvian food on the table - almost everything we ate was cultivated from their garden. Both Aida and Kinkulla were eager to answer any questions I had and make suggestions of places to visit nearby. Local combi vans can take you to surrounding towns such as Pisac, Chinchero and Maras/Moray, and I recommend visiting during June or July as there are many street festivals held in the centre of Calca - just a few minutes walk from the house. My stay here was a tranquil eye-opener to the ways of Peruvian life.
