Stayed at Paris for 6 nights this past week. It was my second stay there, the last coming 6years ago. It was ok, but nothing has been updated in the 6 years since my last visit. I had a regular room. View was not good, as I was stuck looking out over the parking lot. The decor inside was dated, and they didn't even have flat screen TVs in my room. The room (2 queen) was cramped, and there were nt enough plugs to accommodate cellphone chargers, etc. also, there wasn't ample space to store clothing. The common areas of the hotel (casino, restaurants, etc) are tired as well, and can use a facelift, especially when you compare it to other options on the strip.
On the plus side, the rates are reasonable, the location is great (central strip), and the food in the restaurants, although overpriced, is generally decent. If you are just looking for a place to crash each night, this will fit the bill, however if you are looking for something nice, skip it and head to the Venetian or Cosmopolitan.
We stayed for three nights in a basic room and it was absolutely the way to go. I see no need to pay for a "nicer" room unless you plan to spend a lot of time in the room (which we didn't). Sure, it didn't have a giant flat screen, but I only had the tv for 10 minutes while I got dressed in the morning. It has a safe, fridge, hair dryer, iron, etc. It was clean and quiet - what more do you want??
Was a bit reluctant about staying at the Paris after reading some of the reviews but we loved it!! Arrived around 10:00 am on 4/19 and there was no line. Rooms were ready and we requested connecting rooms and we got our wish. The pool area was great but the pool is in some shade until 1:00. The room was a bit outdated but it was clean. We were on the 20th floor and did hear some noise from the night club until 4:30 am. We did not eat at any of the restaurants in Paris. Loved that Bally's is connected. I would go back again!!
I receive this trip as a Christmas gift from my wonderful husband, and thought I was going to TI, when I found out it was Paris I had my doubts about the experience we were going to have. What a great hotel with friendly staff, a nice casino, lovely pool and incredible restaurants.
A few tips:
- If possible don't check your luggage! My husband and I head to Vegas 3 or 4 times a year and all the charters land around the same time. No clue why the hotels haven't gotten the hint yet and added extra staff but the check-in will always bog down around the same time. Beat the system (and the taxi line) by packing carry on only. We were checked in in under 10 minutes, with no pressure to upgrade (which I totally expected based on the reviews)
- Don't sweat the view, we had a stunning view of the Bally's parking garage and I couldn't care less. I see all the reviews with people being concerned about the view but Vegas is better live than under glass. We had lunch at the tasty and reasonable Mon Ami Gabi patio twice, and the expensive but delicious Eiffel Tower Restaurant once, both featured awesome views of the fountains.
- If you're a gambler Paris is for you, I'm an MGM property fan from way back but they have been skewing the odds in their favour for a while. At Paris BlackJacks still pay 3/2 (instead of the now more common 6/5), bonus bets still exist, and in a few pits they stay on soft 17, not to mention a wide range of minimums for all budgets, and their drinks are still more drink than ice
- Enjoy their pool policy, if you're staying at Paris you can swim at any Harrah's property except Caesars. I loved having the chance to check the legendary Flamingo pool without drowing in Pink Neon, and the Bally's pool has the best prices around on pool side cocktails (I didn't bother with the sketchier Harrah's locations)
This comment won't be usful for everyone but it matters to me, Paris has the most special need friendly menus of anywhere on the strip. I'm a vegetarian and all of the Paris restaurants feature a few veg options (only the Wynn, owned by Vegan Stephen, who has a vegan alternative menu at all of his restaurants has a more vegetarian friendly environment). Paris also has Guten free at most of it's shops and chefs that take special requests for low fat and allergy accommodations.
The room was basic but clean, the beds comfy, the bathroom fantastic as advertised, the carpet was worn but Paris is an older hotel, and the location on the strip was amazing. For sure it could use a face lift but faded colours aside we had a great time and would go back.
I stayed here for four nights in April. I was invited to upgrade my room on the advice that the room originally assigned to me on the 7th floor was not very good. The view from the 30th floor was great. A large room with a comfortable bed - although there was a highly suspicious stain on one of the chairs which I thought could have been replaced. On the downside: I bought a chicken roll from the patisserie on my first night and it was thoroughly inedible. $9 plus tax into the bin. At 3.00 am that night the smoke alarm started beeping; low battery. Fortunately I carry a torch and I was able to scale the wall and remove it. I reported this to housekeeping in the morning and they phoned maintenance for me. When I checked out 3 days later the battery had still not been replaced so I presented it to reception on leaving. The price of food and drinks here is much higher than in surrounding casinos. For example, $5 for a glass of beer whereas a small bottle of beer (Corona/Heineken etc) can be had for $1.50 - $2 in many places.
I am a non-smoker so I was probably more sensitive to the fact that the main floor (Reception/Casino etc) smelled like a dirty ashtray. Fortunately, non-smoking hotels are opening up in town. This is a very large hotel catering to many hundreds of people daily. As a result service is lacking and the quality of the food provided is poor.
