Loch Lein Country House

We recently stayed at the Loch Lein Country Hotel with our adult children and their partners during our visit to Ireland for our family Gathering. This beautiful property so exceeded our expectations that I find I can't stop longing to go back. It was Irish hospitality at it's best. It sits overlooking the historic Loch Lein Lake as well as the mountains of Killarney National Park. My only regret on our trip is that we didn't have more time to spend there, but it is certain that we will go back and use this elegant and charming hotel as our pivot point. We just loved it!! From the white linen tablecloths to the heated towel rack, they have left no detail unattended. Don't miss it!

If you're planning a stay in the Killarney area, the Loch Lein Country Hotel is well situated for all your touring needs. It's only 5 minutes west of downtown Killarney. It is situated on overlooking Loch Lein with a magnificent view across the lake to the mountains in Killarney National Park. The staff is eager to please and helped us with any travel needs, directions, etc. The room we stayed in gave us the same view of the lake as the front entrance and it was tough to close the curtains each night. Our 3 night stay at the Loch Lein was one of the highlights of our 2 week trip in Ireland. Skip & Fran, Northville, MI

The Loch Lein Country House has all the charm of a B&B and the comfort and services of an upscale small hotel. The setting on the lake was gorgeous. Our hosts Paul and Annette were the best; charming, fun and professional. Our room and bath were spotlessly clean. And the food? The best we had in Ireland! Chef Robin turns out magnificent culinary delights that were presented to us beautifully.

We spent two nights in Killarney and stayed in the hotel Loch Lein Country House.
There are many hotels and Bed and Breakfast places in Killarney. I would rate Loch Lein House as one of the best, in Killarney. It is Irish hospitality at its best. We drove to Killarney from Cork and reached the hotel around 11:45 long before the checking in time. The hotel is owned and run by a couple Paul and Annette. Paul came and greeted us. We knew we were too early. But Paul had no problem with it. He asked us to give him a minute to check whether our room was ready. We were willing to go to the city and come back later, but he wouldn’t hear about it. He said the room would be made ready and in the mean time he offered us to have tea or coffee. We loved the idea of having tea in the garden. The hotel had a big garden facing the Killarney lakes. There were a few tables and chairs placed on the grass. It was a nice sunny day and we sat in the garden to taste a cup of very well brewed tea.
Our bags were taken to the rooms by one of the staff. We only had to collect our room key and walk upstairs. The room was larger than normal hotel rooms and had all the features of a four or five star hotel.
In the morning, we had full Irish Breakfast in the hotel. One disadvantage is that the hotel is not in the city of Killarney. You need your own transport or need to arrange an alternative mode of transport. One big advantage is that the hotel is on the path of Ring of Kerry. We were in Killarney mainly to do the Ring of Kerry. We talked to Paul and asked for his advice. He gave us the maps and all the details about the places to visit. We found his advice extremely useful in planning the trip.
We had only two nights in this hotel. If I had a choice, I would have stayed longer. This is the perfect place to spend one week or even more while you explore Killarney and the Ring of Kerry.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a lake view

Spent three nights at Loch Lein and it was just beautiful! It is close to many attractions during the day and the owners, Paul and Annette take good care of their guests! The property is on a lake and the grounds are beautiful. You can sit outside enjoy the view and have afternoon tea outside if you wish. The breakfasts are delicious and plentiful!!! Would definitely go back!!

Stayed here 2 nights. This was actually booked for me by www.irishtourism.com and it was excellent! Rooms were large, clean and with obvious attention to detail. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were superb. Location and scenery were wonderful. Paul's tips were spot on. I've been to many different parts of the world and a bunch here in the US and have stayed in primarily 3+ or 4 star hotels. I would like to say, this was my best ever stay in all my travels.

The antithesis of hip, the Loch Lein House is a large modern suburban style house in a splendid position just outside Killarney. With sunlit meadows stretching down to the shimmering lake, framed by heather clad hill and a distant castle, the view from the guest rooms, dining room and small bar is its greatest attribute, that and the welcome hospitality of the hosts.

Rooms are very spacious, spotless and comfortably furnished, giving the hotel its homely atmosphere. Bathroom is large with separate shower and tub. This is a strictly ‘50 shades of grey with cerise and lime accents’-free zone. Food is excellent making good use of local produce, with large breakfast and sumptuous dinners, well prepared and presented but don’t expect anything too cutting edge and that suits just fine. The dining room is light and airy with great views and there is a small sitting room and adjoining bar area for house guests off the main entrance area with its Scarlett O’Hara stair.

The owners are very welcoming, professional, friendly and efficient, taking a genuine interest in their guests and keen to help them when appropriate with their sightseeing plans.
