We found this great hotel whilst looking for somewhere to stay for the night. A great welcome from Jim and the rest in his "office". Great food, great atmosphere, great company-a great work in progress as improvements are well underway. We decided to stay for a second night as it was close to both Bath & Glastonbury where there is lots to see & do. Great time with the locals. I would highly recommend this hotel for a great, friendly& entertaining place to stay & very economical. Two happy & very satisfied customers from Sydney.

A friend and I booked a twin room at this lovely country pub. The welcome from the owner and staff was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble and they all went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. We have re-booked for a further stay next year.

I received a lovely welcome. The landlord and pub staff was very pleasant. The room was basic, clean and well serviced. Value for money was good. The weekday breakfast was huge and served with a pleasant chat from the weekday chef.. However the week end buffet breakfast was poor, the service nonexistent and appalling. This could be a great place but needs attention in good customer service skills in the breakfast room.
If the weekend kitchen personal and waitress were not so absent socialy and in thier work I would rate this as a 4.

Room was huge but mattress too soft in middle. Ducting covers loose in bathroom, shower head needed to be replaced as well as the cheap toilet seat. Windows need replacing as noise from A37 really bad. Service was warm and place was super clean. Food OK

I stayed in this independent hotel in July 2013 for 1 night, with a group of friends.
The welcome was excellent and the staff and owner even offered to give us a lift to our destination as we were late.

The single room was comfortable and clean, small but not too small, and the shower room was also clean an comfortable and quite spacious. There was a problem with the door lock, but the staff offered to get this fixed immediately.

The location is good for our trip into Shepton Mallett.

The breakfast was large and excellent, with plenty of juices, tea & coffee available.

I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We needed an overnight stop. I booked through Eviivo. The room I booked to share with my daughter was listed as a double but the photo showed a twin and the details stated 'twin single beds'. I should have checked this by phone, as it was actually a double bed - it was lucky I was sharing with my daughter, as they were unable to offer an alternative. The other room we booked for the rest of the family had filthy rags in the basin and sawdust on the bathroom floor. We asked for this to be cleaned up while we went out for the evening but on return about 5 hours later, it was still there. In the morning, the lady on reception said she had seen the message about it and said that a workman had been working there, as if it was not the responsibility of the hotel. They did agree to freeze our coldpacks overnight, for which we were grateful. My daughter thought the room was disgusting and said she'd stayed in a youth hostel which was better. The room was small and rather shabby, the bathmat was sodden and the shower was difficult to use, falling out of its holder and the screen falling off its track. I felt we got what we paid for, as I was unable to find anywhere else reasonably priced nearby. The road noise would definitely be a problem for anyone not used to sleeping near traffic, especially in hot weather when you need the window open. I always have earplugs with me. The staff were friendly and tried to be helpful but seemed rather overworked. Breakfast was included in our price which made the experience slightly less painful. The food was OK and service was cheerful but there was only one person serving and she struggled to keep up. If you are used to chain hotels, such as Holiday Inn/Premier Inn, which are often not much more expensive, then you will be disappointed, but I couldn't find a better deal in this area.

Room Tip: Phone beforehand to check you have got the room you wanted.

We stayed at this b & b near Wells, Somerset in June 2013. The Hostess Susan was very welcoming and made us feel at home right from the word go. The rooms were very well appointed and she had thought of just about everything. The breakfast was excellent and lots of it. Very close to 2 pubs which did food (also very good selection of beers and ciders)
Off road parking and easy to find.

Room Tip: Our room was the superior one and was a 4 poster! Lovely bath/shower ensuite and loads of room.
