“Beautiful Waterful with a Nice Hike”
Reviewed May 4, 2013

This is not a destination site, but if you are in the area it is worth the stop. A short, moderate trail leads to the viewing platform. We took the longer walk back to view some of the flora in the area. Great for a keepsake photograph. Do not leave valuables in the car. No fee, but I would recommend a voluntary contribution for maintenance.

“Beautiful and not a tough hike!”
Reviewed March 31, 2013 via mobile

This is about a 10 minute drive from otavalo in your rental car, via bus, or in a taxi. The road is cobbled, so just watch out, but if you've been in ecuador long, you probably already know this! The lot costs 50 cents to park and then it is only a 5 or 10 minute walk on a cobblestone path to the falls. We saw a lot of waterfalls in Ecuador but this was very pretty and the only one that didn't require any real hiking! You can opt to hike a bit down to a bridge or up to the top of the falls, but you can see the falls fine without hiking anywhere!

“Great place to visit”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

If you are driving to Otavalo you know that is an adventure. You have to relax, enjoy the views and if you get lost just use your GPS app. We went to Peguche waterfalls and had to asked 3 times how to get there event thought we tried to follow the signs. We drove thru a super tiny entrance before we found the parking.
We walked in and a very nice lady explained to us all about the waterfalls. You leave a tip when you exit the park, there is no entrance fee. She explains the way you have to go and the options to the waterfall and the pools.
We brought my 7 yr old daughter, we had a great time. We found couple horses on our way up to the waterfall, the stone pad was very nice and easy to walk. The altitude hit us a little bit when going up the stairs to the 2nd water fall but if you rest and drink water you are ok. Very nice walk, water was too cold to jump in the waterfall or pool but the weather to walk was perfect around 60 degrees.
Make sure you have a lot of change (pennies, dimes and nickles) We had to use the restroom and a nice guy sits outside and charges 15cts per person to use the restroom. I did not mind paying as long as there was a clean bathroom with water and a door. No problem!

“Very cool break from the city”
Reviewed January 30, 2013 via mobile

Easily accessible from otavalo by bus(.25c) ,taxi(1-3$) or walking from peguche. Very well maintained, safe, and beatiful. Tourist gifts and light food available, but you're better off eating in otavalo. You can hike to the top of the falls for an epic(but potentially dangerous) view and photo op. there is also a cool cave you can go in at the top(10m long or so, ends up back at river). There is a natural water fed pool available for the brave(with decent dressing rooms) free of charge. Camping available as well.

“The penuche waterfall has improved since they added bridges and paths four years ago.”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Easy to bike or hike to get out of town and enjoy the area... It's a good idea to have a stick along to keep aggressive family dogs away as you walk past casa's.
