Easy to bike or hike to get out of town and enjoy the area... It's a good idea to have a stick along to keep aggressive family dogs away as you walk past casa's.

“A nice hike to a lovely place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

This easy hike is close to Otavalo and a great photo op. Stay out of the water! At the bottom of the trail are the customary shops where you can grab an ice cream or other refreshment. This stop makes a nice compliment to a visit to Otavalo without adding a half day of travel to get there.

“Nice, easy day trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2013

There are a few ways to get to the falls: walking, a taxi, or by bus. We were pointed in vaguely the right direction by our hostel owners, but a half hour walk and a couple of friendly pointers in the right direction and we were there. Even though the falls weren't jaw-droppingly spectacular, they were a really nice break from the hectic market.

If you're feeling really adventurous, you can camp in the park alongside some of the (seemingly) more nomadic artisans, or poke around the town to see where some of the incredible textiles are produced.

“Nice waterfall - nice walk”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

This isn't Niagara Falls - but is is nice. A walk in the woods. Some local colour and shops. Walking trails and not too much commercialization. The price is right too - free.

“Great falls... great trails... why not?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2013

Excellent FREE park which includes the falls themselves as well as a bunch of trails you can zig zag on to your heart's delight. It's about a 30/40 minutes pleasant walk from town... just follow the railroad tracks!
