Never had a bad meal in many visits, lunchtime is great value for money and a seriously good experience, evenings never ever disappoint, and happy friendly staff too - isn't that what eating out is all about :-)

Been to O Joao too many times to remember now. Consistently good food, friendly staff, clean and quick. Always a good sign to see the place full, and not only, full, but full of locals! Nice simple menu but good variety.

Thoroughly recommend :)

We keep going back to this restaurant due to the fabulous lunch offers.
Great food - I usually opt for tuna steak done in Portuguese style. So so yummy!

Great amazing prices as well
as fantastic friendly staff.

Head towards Algoz as it's only 10 minutes from Guia. Worth a visit:)

Can't rate it enough for lunch!

This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend who is a chef. We tend to eat at lunchtime so can only comment on this meal. We were greeted with a smile and were surprised to see, at 12.15, how many people were already there. We chose to have the Prato do dia and started with the usual bread, lovely and warm, and olives. There was a choice of six main courses; difficult to make a choice as all were inviting. There was also a good range of sweets. This was followed by coffee. All this with drinks for 7.50€. The service was great. It was also good to see 'the boss' was fully involved in the whole service.

We have been going to this restaurant for over 15 years but had not been for the last three since the new owners had taken over. We were regulars when Leonel ran it but had not been for three years. We visited twice last week. Lovely to see an old face serving and the rest of the staff were smily, attentive and charming. Excellent food and drink quintesentially Portuguese great value for money. Has carried on all the traditions and standards set over a long period and I would thoroughly recommended it to all guests at our villa.
