Description: Habitual visitors to the ancient labyrinthine streets of the Marrakech Medina will be familiar with the Cafe des Epices, a reknown meeting point and perfect location for a respite from shopping excursions in the souks. Many will also be aware of Kamal Laftimi’s other much heralded establishment, Le Jardin, in which he and interior architect Anne Favier have created a true magical oasis located within a beautifully renovated 16th Century building. Entering through an unassuming door, one comes into a lush garden dotted with tables and lights surrounded by the majestic building and the terraces above where one can lounge in the evening and watch the occassional open air projected classic films. The design is very much in the spirit of the 1960s and 70s heyday of Marrakech, a combination of Moroccan and European chic, which is equally accentuated by Norya Ayron’s acclaimed Pop Up Shop located on the premises. With a menu that offers a choice of traditional Morrocan and European cuisine.

The most delicious food in Marrakech especially the traditional burger and the chicken with creme-fresh and mushrooms.
Tranquility and nice atmosphere
Worth every penny!!

This restaurant is tucked away in a side street away from the hustle and bustle of the city but it's worth taking the time to find it. The whole restaurant is decorated in emerald green tiles and garden is beautiful, as well as the two terraces above. The atmosphere is relaxed, with laid-back jazz music playing in the background. The food takes a while to arrive but is lovely and fresh. It's a little pricier than other places in Marrakech but still not unreasonable if you're visiting from Europe or the US. If you're planning a lazy lunch, this is the place!

The garden is truly beautiful. The roof terrace is also stunning. This restaurant is of my favourite places in Marrakech. The food is good, not amazing, but still delicious enough to compliment the decor.
Tip: book a table in advance. The place is always full.

We had lunch at le Jardin and got disappointed. The food was okay but nothing special (lentil salad and plate du jours), spices were missing and the price is too expensive. Nice location but not worth the hype. Waiter was also quite unfriendly or at least they don't know how waiters should work...

As we occassionally had had drinks on Thursday, we reserved for Friday's 9 pm shift. As souks were closed already at 8 55 at place des épices level, we were kindly guided by the staff of café des épices. Table was ready, local musician playing. Tomate mozarella outstandibg, grilled sardines as well. The burger was rather tasty- and would have been totally tasty if it warmer than just lukewarm. All 3 portions of them. On exiting, bothcashier ladies on the other hand had such big trouble showing a smile, that this experience seems to have a paying option ' client friendliness'. Such a pity!
