“Good fun day out, some walkways and displays tired though.”

Groombridge Place Gardens

Attraction details
Owner description: Groombridge Place has lovely walled gardens overlooking a 17th century moated manor house. The Enchanted Forest has something for all ages from Crusoe's World with its tree houses and rope bridge. The boardwalk also in the forest is a popular play area with its zip wire and rope swings. The giant tree swings are popular with young and old alike. Two birds of prey displays daily Tue to Sun and Bank Holiday Monday. Don't miss our famous Zedonk (half Zebra and half Donkey).

“Good fun day out, some walkways and displays tired though.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014

A great day out, we went on the steam train from Tunbridge Wells west and got a combined ticket. Many of the walkways are slippery as the chicken netting has worn through, this can make it ultra slippery. I think the owners are milking this place, it needs to be tidied up a bit. Temporary tatootists were a hit with my chldren and we walked miles/ Good gardens and peacocks, nice moat and grounds. Recommend overall. No bird display on day we went.

“Lovely attraction”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

Great for anyone, although may be unsuitable for disabled as the walks round the forest aren't easily accessible for wheelchairs or people with difficulties walking.
Best to visit in the sunshine so you can make the most of all parts of the ground and enchanted forest. Lots of magic for young children, lots to climb on, lots to do. Great to take a picnic and enjoy whilst overlooking lovely views.

“Terrible”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2013

My son was eager to go because he remembered going when he was 5.
So we drove 50 miles in the rain until we got there when the sun came out.and got there at 2pm.
When we arrived at 2pm a notice was put up saying they were closing at 2pm. The staff on the gate said that as nobody else had come, they had decided to close at 2 as they did not think it was worth their staying open. We had checked the website and were expecting it to close at 5.30pm & we had to travel 50 miles back again (100 miles in all!)

I was furious but we went off to walk in nearby woods on the "Forest Way" for nothing. My son saw a grass snake and he said he preferred that to a load of cheesey fibre glass pterodactyls.

“Missed tricks, and no treats....an expensive woodland walk.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

We had expected so much from the website...which made us think the £60 cost for our half term family reunion day out would be worth it. The reality was sadly so disappointing.....no extra halloween displays in the enchanted wood ...which was not very enchanting and the displays looking very tired with very poor directions within the wood itself. Bird of prey display cancelled due to a 2 minute rain shower, which was so obviously only passing through, and had finished by the time the chap had finished telling us why he could not do the display! So we went back to do the nerf activities and halloween crafts, only to find nerf closing, and crafts already closed, although still at least 15 minutes time left on the advertised schedule. Staff not very friendly except for lady in ticket office. Best bit was the small wooden adventure playground by the board walk, and the peacocks. Oh just be aware there is also a cafe but apparantly some mums had queued over an hour for lunch only to find food had run out ! We were charged £1.50 for a pack of two very ordinary looking mini shortbread biscuits in the cafe ....what a rip off ...we put them back ! . Such a shame, as we rarely all meet up and this will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.
Next time we will meet up in Dunorlin park as for no charge there is a pretty walk round the lake, a good playground and a lovely cafe.

“Great family fun at Halloween”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

We had a fantastic time at Groomsbridge in the weekend and the main reason was the marvelous efforts made by the entertainment team, three different Halloween shows throughout the day and a brilliant nerf-zone meant the kids (aged 3 and 6) were happy the whole time, despite the dodgy weather! There was still plenty more to explore in the grounds that we didn't get to so the value for money is very good.
