“Another world”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

I am not a fan of caves and underground things, but this is a must. It feels like another world. Unfortunately photographing is strictly forbidden. They seize cameras and even mobile phones before entering. But not a deal breaker for me. Totally worth a trip from Beirut.

“A world wonder”
Reviewed November 28, 2013

One of the most awesome natural places I've seen. Admittedly, I haven't been to some of the wonderful natural sites around the world, but among the ones I've been to, Jeita is not to be missed.

“A must see!”

Must visit at any cost. Walk through the upper grotto, and take the small boats through the lower grotto. Absolutely breathtaking!

“Cable car, train and boat trip to another world!”
Reviewed November 27, 2013

Taking a taxi or hotel driver to this historic site is a must if visiting Beirut. Upper and lower chambers with amazing geological structures are accessed by walkways in the higher vaults, for the inferior underworld low draft motorboats convey the visitor some of the way into what would be a sequence of several kilometres of waterway, sadly too narrow to navigate.
There are the usual tacky merchandising opportunities for those who need retail validation for the visit, but embrace that because these natural phenomena are simply stunning!

“A one of a kind stop”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

Breathtaking underground site. A must visit for every visitor even if your stay is short. The whole visit needs 2 hours and the grotto is 20 - 30 mns away from Beirut depending on traffic, The grotto is divided in 2 parts, the upper one where the visitor can have a walking trip and one alongside an underground river where the visit continues with small boats. I visited the grotto several times, and enjoy its unique beauty again and again. Don't forget to bring a sweater even during summer months, it is freezing inside!
