“A wonderful experience in a beautiful site”
Reviewed February 28, 2012

Wow!!! For the last two days, my canadian husband and I have been enjoying our stay in this exceptional venue. Our hosts have been amazingly receptive to our each and every need. We wanted to experience the desert: they helped us maximize our trekkings.

Omar, our day to day host, was our main reference for our activities, great meals and especially our comfortable rooms. I highly recommend this gem of a hotel and will surely tell our friends and family to come visit this hotel

This quiet auberge sits right at the edge of the huge Erg Chebbi Dunes in the Sahara. It is a great place to stay. Everything is clean and well kept. The service is friendly and the food is great. They know many languages so communication is easy. Some evenings there is even traditional Berber music.
You can walk right out to the dunes without having to find further transportation to take you. It’s within walking distance of the Nomad Outpost where the Berber Nomads bring all their artistic creations from carpets to jewellery and everything inbetween. You can walk through the quiet village gardens where many families each have their own vegetable plot. You can even get internet access here!
Another nice note is that it’s a very good place to stay if you’re a female traveller. The men who work at the auberge are kind and respectful. I fully recommend staying here!

We stayed here in June 2010 and couldnt have asked for more. The magic of the dessert, right there!! The camel ride in the evening twilight, The very friendly brothers who own the Auberge and all the lovely staff, Thanks to Mohammad and Omar and Omar and Omar!! The swimming pool was lovely and such a welcome relief in the heat. Very good value for money with wonderful food and service included in the very reasonable price. Our room was basic but quite adequate.
Sorry its taken so long to write this review Guys. Life catches up with you once you get back home! Warm regards from Mark and Julie Eagle

We came to Merzouga to ride camels and camp in the desert. The owners of the auberge arranged a memorable camel safari to a full-moon bivouac in the Sahara. The guides cooked good food and were very friendly. We spent the following day and night in the auberge. We chatted with some of the locals who work in the auberge and live nearby, explored the village and some nearby dunes, and eavesdropped on what seemed like an impromptu Touareg jam session in the courtyard. The owners and staff were amazingly multilingual, friendly, and welcoming. I'd recommend this place to anyone who is coming to Merzouga.

A tip for independent travelers -- take the supratours bus all the way to Merzouga and don't bother with Rissani. We made the mistake of taking CTM to Rissani and ended up getting bullied by some hustler at the Rissani bus station. Avoid this experience if possible.

For us it was important to find a hotel close to the dunes and we could not find better than Auberge Sahara. The golden sands starts behind the hotel: you just put your suitcase in the room and climb the dunes! Omar, the owner, has done everything to put us at ease: very kind, helpful and professional! great for anyone looking for relaxation and nature at your fingertips.
thanks for everything.

It is situated at the entrance into sahara. You walk out into the dunes at the back of this hotel. Rooms are nice, spacious and clean. Staff are very friendly and can speak good english. Food was good quality, Stay in desert and camel ride is worth a while. We had arranged chemical toilets at the camp for four of us.
